Find the optimum variables and parameters to optimize a fishing vessel with requirements given.
1. Objectives:
Fishing Vessel
2. Type of
vessel The ship includes a freezing compartment to keep the fish fresh until the ship arrives to the coast.

3. Design  Freezing capacity: 200 ton/day

Requirement  Weight Capacity: 2000m3
s  IACS rule: Bureau Veritas.

Explain how you are planning to describe the objective function:

As our interest is a mix between the weight of the ship due to the requirement of the owner and to reach the
design velocity the Resistance (Holtrop Method)
We are going to start by defining a mix objective function Weight-resistance.

Objective Function:
K
w k f k ( x́ )
P [ F K ( x́ ) ]=∑
k=1 [ f 0k ]
Normalizing the weight and resistance function:
K
P [ F K ( x́ ) ]=∑ [ w k f k ´ ( x́ ) ]
k=1
4.
Optimization Restrictions:

 Weight Capacity (Cubes Volume)

 Area of the compressors (to freeze the fish)

Optimization Process:
Within the optimization process, an algorithm will first be developed in Python that allows defining the
main characteristics of the boat from the variables and design parameters. These results will be saved in
variables that will be linked to the optimization algorithm with the OpenMDAO library, where the
optimization function is specified as a string, as well as the initial values and restrictions. Then, with the
results obtained, we will choose the best design according to the weights analyzed.
