Stuck Pipe:

https://www.drillingcourse.com/2016/02/introduction-to-stuck-
pipe.html?m=1

Spotted 50bbls of diesel treated with 5% pipelex to cover BHA

section in annulus and allowed to soak for 8hrs. string got released
during pumping mud.

Differentially stuck pipe usually occurs because of one of the following

causes/high-risk conditions:
• High overbalance pressures
• Thick filter cakes
• High-solids mud
• High-density mud

The main indication that reactive shale has been drilled is increases in
the funnel viscosity, yield point, gel strengths, Methylene Blue Test
(MBT) and, possibly, the mud weight. This will be reflected by
increases in torque, drag and pump pressure.
Pump pressure, torque and drag will increase when the hole becomes
overloaded with caving shale.

Swelling Shale:
Some shales chemically react with water; a process called hydration
which results in formation swelling. All swelling shales are potential
causes of stuck pipe whether they are highly reactive gumbos, or shales
which hydrate very quickly.
Even though the hole may be cleaned by sufficient flow rates during
drilling, it may need to be re-drilled after each stand as the swelling
continues.
The indications of swelling are:
 torque increases during drilling
 difficulty in sliding the BHA when orienting
 drag in connections
 excessive drag when POOH
 requirement for repeated reaming of sections
 Increase in MBT of water based mud.
