Learning Outcomes
1. Describe the different learning/thinking styles and multiple intelligences
2. Pinpoint your own learning/thinking styles and multiple intelligences
3. Plan learning activities that match learners’ learning/thinking styles and multiple
intelligences

Activity:

What type of learner are you? What’s your style? Answer the Learning Style Inventory
below, and find out!

1. If I have to learn how to do something, I learn best when I:

(V) Watch someone show me love.
(A) Hear someone tell me how.
(K) Try to do it myself.

2. When I read, I often find that I:

(V) Visualize what I am reading in my mind’s eye.
(A) Read out loud or hear the words inside my head.
(K) Fidget and try to “feel” the content.

3. When asked to give directions, I:

(V) See the actual places in my mind as I say them or I prefer to draw them.
(A) Have no difficulty in giving them verbally.
(K) Have to point or move my body as I give them.

4. If I am unsure how to spell a word, I:

(V) Write it in order to determine if it looks right.
(A) Spell it out loud in order to determine if it sounds right.
(K) Write it in order to determine if it feels right.

5. When I write, I:
(V) Am concerned how neat and well-spaced my letters and words appear.
(A) Often say the letters and words to myself.
(K) Push hard on my pen or pencil and can feel the flow of the words or letters as I form
them.

6. If I had to remember a list of items, I would remember it best if I:

(V) Wrote them down.
(A) Said them over and over to myself.
(K) Moved around and used my fingers to name each item.

7. I prefer teachers who:

(V) use the board or overhead projector while they lecture.
(A) Talk with a lot of expression.
(K) Use hands-on activities.

8. When trying to concentrate, I have a difficult time when:

(V) There is a lot of clutter or movement in the room.
(A) There is a lot of noise in the room.
(K) I have to sit still for any length of time.

9. When solving a problem, I:

(V) Write or draw diagrams to see it.
(A) Talk myself through it.
(K) Use my entire body or move objects to help me think.

10. When given written instructions on how to build something, I:

(V) Read them silently and try to visualize how the part will fit together.
(A) Read them out loud and talk to myself as I put the parts together.
(K) Try to put the parts together first and read later.

11. To keep occupied while writing, I:

(V) Look around, stare or read.
(A) Talk or listen to others.
(K) Walk around, manipulate things with my hands, or move/shake my feet as I sit.

12. If I had to verbally describe something to another person, I would:

(V) Be brief because I do not like to talk at length.
(A) Go into great detail because I like to talk.
(K) Gesture and move around while talking.

13. If someone were verbally describing something to me, I would:

(V) Try to visualize what she was saying.
(A) Enjoy listening but want to interrupt and talk myself.
(K) Become bored if her description gets too long and detailed.

14. When trying to recall names, I remember:

(V) Faces but forget names.
(A) Names, but forget faces.
(K) The situation that I met the person other than the person’s name or face.

Scoring Instructions: Add the number of responses for each letter and enter the total below. The
area with the highest number of responses is your primary mode of learning.
Visual Auditory Kinesthetic
V = 11 A=2 K=1
Analysis:

1. What do your scores tell you about your learning and thinking styles?

My scores tell me that my primary mode of learning is through visuals. Based on my

experience in what our situation is right now, I find it easier to learn when I am able to see or
watch the tutorial videos about the topic on youtube.

2. Do you agree with your scores?

Yes I do agree with my scores because based on the situation given in the learning style
inventory I answered, I really belong to visual learners. I prefer to see the instructor/teacher
discussing the lesson and sit in front  for me to be able to understand the lesson well and avoid
the distractions that I may encounter if I sit in the middle or at the last seat.

3. Is it possible for one to score equally on the three styles? Explain.

Based on my own opinion, it is impossible for one person to score equally on the three
styles because an individual may excel in some aspect and poor in the rest. Each one of us has
their own learning styles that they find the learning process more easier and no one is good/excel
at everything. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses.
Abstraction:
Application:
1. Choose a topic from your field of specialization.

2. Think of at least ten learning activities relevant to the topic you picked.

3. Indicate the thinking/learning styles and multiple intelligences that each learning
activity can address. Remember, a learning activity may address both thinking/learning style and
multiple intelligence.

Topic Learning Activity Learning Style/Multiple Intelligence

Adjective 1. Board Work Auditory Learners/ Verbal/ Liguistic
( The teacher will utter a sentence (Word smart)
and the students will write on the
board they are holding the adjective
word from the sentence and raise
their answer once they’ve finish)

2. Choose and answer Visual Learners/Verbal/ Liguistic

(Word smart)
(On the board, there are a group of
words that were written. The
students will choose what best
describes the pictures that were
posted.)

3. Pass the ball Kinesthetic Learners/musical (Music

(The teacher will play music and Smart)
while playing it, the student will
continue to pass the ball to his/her
seatmates. Once the music stops,
the student holding the ball will
stand up and give an adjective word
that he/she heard from the song that
was being played.

4. lean and dab Auditory Learners/ Bodily/Kinesthetic

(The teacher will give sentences (Body Smart)
and will identify the adjective
words that were used. The students
will answer whether it is correct or
not by their body gestures)
5. Gestures spells Kinesthetic Learners/
(The teacher will divide the class Bodily/Kinesthetic (Body Smart)
into two and each has the
representative to do the body
gestures. The teacher will give the
list of adjective words to the
representative of the group and they
have to do the body movements for
their group mates to guess what
adjective words is that.The first
group who can get the correct
answer will get the score)

6.Quick writes Auditory Learners/Verbal/ Linguistic

( The teacher will give sentences (Word Smart)
and the students will identify what
is the adjective word that was used
in each sentence. The first one who
will raise his/her hand will given
the chance to answer.)

7. Pair share Auditory Learners/ Interpersonal

(The teacher will let the students (People Smart)
face their seatmates. The students
will share their experience in
beautiful places where they have
been through. The pairs will write
on the paper what are the adjective
words they use to describe the
place)

8.The line Visual Learners/ Verbal/ Linguistic

(The class will be divided into two (Word Smart)
and they have to fall in line. The
first student in each line will write
an adjective word on the board that
he/she knows. The second student
until the last one in the group will
also write an adjective word based
on the last letter of the word that
was written by the students who
answered before them.)
9. Pictionary Visual Learners/
(Based on the pictures posted on Verbal/Linguistic( Word Smart)
the board, the students will
construct sentences using
adjectives.

10.Pass the message Auditory Learners/ Verbal/ Linguistic

(The teacher will divide the group (word smart)
into four and students will fall in
line. The teacher will give a
sentence to the students who are
standing at the last of each line.
He/She will relay the message on
his front and that students will do
the same. Each member of the
group will do the task until it
reaches the first student on the line.
That student will write the sentence
on the board and will encircle the
adjective word that was used in the
sentence.

Assessment Task:

1. In your own words, describe the different learning/thinking styles and multiple
intelligences.

LEARNING/THINKING STYLES

VISUAL LEARNERS
- To properly comprehend the substance of a class, these students must witness their
teachers' actions and facial expressions. They may learn best through visual aids such as
diagrams, illustrated text books, overhead transparencies, films, flip charts, and handouts since
they think in pictures. Visual learners prefer to sit in the front of the class so they can see the
resources their teachers utilized to convey the lesson effectively. When kids can see the lesson
through the learning tools, they find it easier to learn.

AUDITORY LEARNERS
-They learn best through verbal lectures, conversations, and talking things over with
others. Auditory learners use tone of voice, pitch, and speed to interpret the underlying meanings
of speech. They can pay attention to details with their ears, readily translate spoken words into
written words, and listen without being distracted.

TACTILE/ KINESTHETIC LEARNERS

-A hands-on approach, actively investigating the physical world around them, benefits
tactile/kinesthetic people greatly. They can find it difficult to sit motionless for long periods of
time. They may not profit as much from the discussion or the written materials, and their urge for
activity and discovery may distract them. Those who appreciate this type of input are more likely
to engage in active, sensorimotor learning. They prefer to "learn" by doing, preferring to employ
psychomotor abilities than abstract cognitive skills, for example. They have a solid motor
memory and are in good physical condition.

MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES
Visual/ Spatial Intelligence (Picture Smart)
- This is like basically how well can a person visualize something in his mind’s eye, how
well he can think of something in his mind.

Verbal/ Linguistic (Word Smart)

-Learning is accomplished through the use of both spoken and written language.
The person is good at saying a word like in poems. Rhyming words, finding words that rythme
by getting it through reading and writing. An individual is also good at learning other languages.
He/she learns quickly compared to other people and probably great at turning a little story into a
huge fascinating story that can captivate the attention of the entire room.

Mathematical/Logical (Number Smart/Logic Smart)

-This is basically what you think of intellectual intelligence. This would be stuff like
logic or if you’re good at taking test. This also has to do with critical thinking and making or
reading graphs as well as organization. The person like to organize his/her stuff and is good at
organizing.
Bodily/ Kinesthetic (Body Smart)
-Learning takes place as a result of contact with one's surroundings. It enhances
comprehension through hands-on experience. A person can handle objects skillfully and
basically move it around. Kinesthetic field are dancers, actors, soldiers and even many sports
athletes.

Musical (Music Smart)

- This is associated with rythmic and harmonic music being able to interpret sounds,
rythms, tones and pitches and being able to understand it on a level that most people can’t
understand . A person can probably compose or at least play an instrument. This includes not
only auditory learning but also five senses.

Intrapersonal (Self Smart)

-This is more about how we understand ourself. How are we aware of ourself and how do
we know what feelings are we feeling, what emotions go through our mind, where we are in a
certain situations. How well we can control our thoughts, actions and feeling in general, we
know our strengths and weaknesses.
Learning can take many forms, including feelings, ideals, and attitudes.
This is a highly emotional element of learning in which students value and take responsibility for
what they learn.

Interpersonal (People Smart)

-This intelligence encourages cooperation and collaboration with others. Interpersonal
intelligence would be like understanding other’s emotions, what the social etiquette and norms
are of this situation. The person is good at recepttion to other people’s mood and what motivates
them and can coordinate work with other people.

Naturalist (Nature Smart)

-This has to do with being able to recognize stuff in the real world basically flowers and
trees and anything that living hunters and fishermen are pretty intelligent in the naturalistic
field.Naturalist intelligence takes up on small meaning changes. It is not limited to the study of
nature; it may be applied to any subject.

Existential (Spirit Smart)

- This intelligence seeks out real-world connections, as well as comprehension and
application of new knowledge.Spiritual intelligence helps a person perform better at work and
makes them more effective.

What is your thinking/learning style/s? What are your dominant multiple intelligences?

I belong to visual learners that preferably see my instructors facial expressions while
delivering the topic. I always want to sit in front so I can focus on my studies. With our situation
right now, I keep on watching tutorial videos on youtube about the lesson for how many times
specially if I find it hard to understand in just one time of watching.I get easily distracted so I
want a quiet place when studying or answering my modules. Some of my dominant multiple
intelligences are intrapersonal, mathematical, and interpersonal intelligence. I can say that I have
the intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligences because I really know my own self that I can
handle my emotions, actions and thoughts and be aware of what I really felt in a certain situation
and able to handle hurting/disappointing someone. I also know how to cooperate and collaborate
with others. Based on my experience in working with people of different nationalities, I know to
respect/understand each other's differences with regards to their emotions, moods and beliefs that
I am able to motivate them and have a good work relationship with them. I have mathematical
intelligence also because I am the kind of person that wants everything to be in order or in proper
places.

2. Choose a particular learning style and intelligence of students. Plan learning

activities that match with the particular learning styles and multiple
intelligences of students.

STYLE/INTELLIGE ACTIVITIES INTELLIGENCES
NCE
Visual Learners - A teacher will let the
students watch a short -Visual/Spatial Intelligence
movie about the topic
for that day. (this was applied here by the
students while watching the
movie, stay focused on the
important scenario and
visualise what will happen
next in the story.

- The teacher will

group the class into - Interpersonal
three to let them Intelligence
discuss or share their (This was applied here
thoughts about the by the students by
understanding each
movie they’ve other’s thoughts about

good relationship and
coordinating with
their fellow students
about the task that is
given to them.)

- The students will construct

a poem about what they have -Verbal/Linguistic
learned from the movie and Intelligence
perform it in the class.
(This was applied here by the
students when they
constructed a poem. They
should have knowledge in
finding words that rhyme and
have broad vocabulary. They
will also use their learning  in
both spoken and written
language.
