was a UP student while National
Artist Guillermo Tolentino, a
professor at the UP School of
Fine Arts, was working on the
oblation. Anastacio Caedo is
claimed to have been a student
of Professor Guillermo
Tolentino, the artist who created
the picture in 1935. Tolentino
allegedly sought to depict
Filipino nationalism in his art.
The "Hubo't-Hubad" is a
manifestation of the people's
self-sacrifice. Caedo went on to
become a fine arts professor,
following in the footsteps of
Tolentino. Caedo acknowledged
Prof Tolentino's aid at the time
and gave credit to the creature's
wife, Virgilio Raymundo.

(UPOU) verified a
communication from Caedo, her
instructor, asking her to
remember that he was the
model of oblation. Caedo,
according to Edward, followed
Tolentino's steps in constructing
statues, one of which being the
Dr. Jose Rizal monument in
Idelstien, Germany.
