3.1 Make sure
the valve guide (G) is clean and
the cylinder head is securely fixed in such position that that the valve guide bore is directed
vertically and accessible from both ends.
3.2 Mount supporting spider.
A supporting spider (F) is required to stabilize the pilot shaft just below the valve seat (S).
Slide supporting spider (F) over pilot shaft (SB 1) to such position that spring-loaded spider
elements (F2) of the supporting spider are just below valve seat level when the pilot is
installed in valve guide.
Lock supporting spider in place by tightening set screw (F1).
3.2 Insert pilot into the valve guide:
Remove nut (82) from pilot.
Insert guide section (83) of the pilot into the valve guide (G) until the tapered section (84)
bears against the valve guide (G).
The spring-loaded spider elements (F2) will bear against the throat wall.
3.3 Lock pilot in valve guide:
Screw nut (82) onto the threaded end of pilot and tighten with moderate force.
Tighten the screws (F3) to lock the spring-loaded spider elements (F2) in place.
3.4 Lubricate pilot shaft.
Apply standard machine oil to the top (85) and around the periphery of the pilot shaft (81).
Caution
Failure to lubricate the pilot shaft will result in excessive wear.
