 Preface
Dear customers:
Whenever you are familiar with the x ray collimator please read the use instruction
and warning in this service manual carefully before installation, use and maintenance.
It will help you to be skillful. The installation and maintenance should be done by
specialized personnel, who should be familiar with safe standard of electric device.

Warning:
X ray is dangerous for the operator and the people around, please abide by the
rules and regulations. Specialized personnel should be familiar with radiation
shielding.

 Survey

NK202 manual variable collimator is a multi-leaf continuous adjustable x ray

irradiation device, it is assembholagen with x ray tube, which can make continuous
adjustment x ray rectangular radiation field size to reduce the scattering x ray,
enhance the fluoroscopy and radiography quality and reduce the x ray harmful to the
operator and patients.

Outlook Diagram

Structure:
Inside: main frame, broadwise variable lead leaves, longitudinal variable lead
leaves, drive gear, gear sector and light fiholagen indicator lamp.
Outside: the interface part for connecting x ray tube assembly, indicator panel,
broadwise and longitudinal x ray field adjustment knobs, additional filter board slot
and light field indicator lamp knob.
The light field indicator device shows the adjusted light field size, it can adjust the
x ray to the needing size scope, the light field lamp is set up to make automatic off
after 30 seconds light. (Time deviation is 2 seconds)

 Technology Introduction

1. Main Specification

The suitable x ray tube max voltage: 150 kV

Max irradiation field: when SID (FFD) = 1000mm, no less than 430 mm x 430 mm
Min irradiation field: 0x0 mm
Inherent filter: 1 mm·Al/75kVp
Additional filter: 1 mm·Al and 2 mm·Al
Lead leaf control mode: manual
Working power: 24V AC/DC, 150 W (The lowest safe voltage)

2. Working Environment

(1) Temperature: +15℃ ~ +35℃

(2) Relative humidity: 45  ~75 
(3) Atmospheric pressure: 86 ~106 kPa

3. Transport &Storage environment

The packing products should be kept under 15 weeks in the following conditions
(1) Temperature: －40℃~＋70℃。
(2) Relative humidity: 10%~100%
(3) Atmospheric pressure: 50~106KPa。
(4) Storage in the room with no causticity gas and ventilate good.

 Use Introduction

NK202 collimator is connected with the x ray tube by the interface plate, rotate
the panel knob, the gear mechanism drives the lead diaphragm open and close to
control the x ray fiholagen size, so as to finish the different size film radiography and
fluoroscopy requirement.

1. Light Diaphragm Adjustment

NK202 collimator: it can make the light diaphragm open or close refers to the
panel scale. The left knob on the panel is the up-down opening knob, if rotate the
knob by clockwise direction, the opening is larger; if rotate the knob by anticlockwise
direction, the opening is smaller. The right knob is the left-right opening knob, if rotate
the knob by clockwise direction, the opening is smaller; if rotate the knob by
anticlockwise direction, the opening is larger.
The digits on the scale indicate that when the SID is 100cm, 115cm, 150cm and
200cm, the relative opening size of the imaging.

2. Imitate Light Field Indicator Lamp

The light field indicator lamp is made of a tact switch, which is used for turning on
the collimator light field indicator lamp, press this button, the imitate light field indicator
lamp is bright, it will automatic turn off after 30 seconds light.

 Installation Introduction

1. Collimator Installation
NK202 collimator is connected with the x ray tube by the interface plate (see
following picture), the fastening pieces (4 M6×10; GB70.3 Inner six angle head screws)
make the interface plated fixed on the x ray tube output window, then put the
collimator into the interface plate, and make the interface plate closed to the collimator,
fasten the collimator foursquare screws tightener and make the press plate closed to
the interface plate, when make press, please note that the interface plate center is
uniformity to the collimator center (please see the after content of “collimator
calibration”), at last, use the inner six angle head screws to make the press plate
completely closed to the interface plate.

Notice: check and confirm the collimator has been fastened hardly. When
install, the interface plate is connected with the x ray tube output window directly,
there is no other pad between them. The x ray tube focus to the interface plate
distance: 80mm.

2. Connect the Control Cable

Warning:
The power supply of collimator is not protected by fuse. So before you
connect the collimator cable, please check whether the collimator is protected
by the outside fuse.
The requirement fuse model: 10A delayed (24V)
The cable and terminal of collimator inside must can work under 70℃. The
section of power supply cable ≥ 1.5mm², the ground wires are yellow and green,
the grown and blue wires are used for 24V power.

Remove the collimator cover and put the cable across the hole into the collimator.
Install the plug and insert it into the timing circuit board, after reorganizing the whole
cables, put the press plate which next to the threading hole through the fixed screws
and fix the cables hardly.
The collimator has been adjusted before leaving the factory. When after
installation or before using, please make confirm again to avoid the error or the hidden
trouble which maybe caused by the wrong installation.
(1) After connection the collimator and the x ray tube, please check whether the
collimator installation is level and the fixed press plate is credible. Please sway the
collimator to check up.
(2) Check the lead diaphragm opening and closing center whether coinside with
the collimator center (x ray tube center)? It can turn on the light field imitate to show
the lead diaphragm close status (leave a small window), to check when it is being
closed, the center whether inside with the collimator center.
(3) The collimator lead diaphragm direction confirm, the inner lead leaves belong
to up-down direction lead diaphragm, along with the x ray tube axis, that is the table
surface vertical direction; the outer lead leaves belongs to left-right direction lead
diaphragm, along with the x ray tube radial direction, that is the table surface
horizontal direction; it can use the indicator lamp to check the lead leaves each
direction whether is paralleholagen with the table horizontal or vertical directions.

 Warning:
The wrong power supply will destroy the electric timer or lamp.
Iodide quartz lamp and timer need AC power, it should be judged by the polarity.

3. Collimator Calibration

Warning:
The following procedures will be operated under x ray condition, it should take
protection measure to avoid the person exposed in the x ray directly or
indirectly.

X Ray Center Confirm

Put a 35CMX43CM image reception like cassette on the table surface. Put the x
ray tube and collimator assemble on the position which focus to the table surface of
1m, to make sure the x ray could pass through the cassette. Use the collimator tape to
measure the distance between the focus and cassette surface.
Note: if the FFD not equal to 1m, adjust the FFD to 1m, after measurement, count
the deviation as the distance percentage. If the x ray not vertical, use the clamp or
adhesive tape etc to make the x ray is vertical to the image reception surface, after
that, under the ruholagen FFD (SID), operate as follows procedures:
(1) Use the collimator lamp to place the cassette position.
(2) Use the adhesive tape or other method to record the cassette position, if it
moves in future, it can be put back.
(3) Put a paper on the cassette to provide the max contrast for light field.
(4) Adjust the collimator to make the light field to be 30CMX35CM. (Notice: now
the FFD is 1m.)
(5) Power on the light field and put on 20 coins as
following pictures

 (6) Please put each pair of coins contact position as near as possible to the edge
of the light field to make sure the inside coins can be received more and more light,
the outside coins can be received less and less light.
(7) The contact coins can confirm the light field geometric edge, the other 4 corns
on the lower left quarter can make position of the film direction.
(8) Set up the exposure parameter of the x ray generator, it suggests to control
the film density so as to adjust conveniently.
(9) Make exposure, move the cassette, develop the film, use the testing films to
check the collimator and make calibration.

The Precise Calibration For The Light Field Indicator Lamp

The calibration requirement of the light field and x ray field, it not exceed FFD 2% on
the X and Y directions, that is less than 20mm. If the testing film shows the light field
(showed by the coin shadow) and the x ray field (showed by the collimator diaphragm
shadow) overlapping boundary differ for one coin diameter (if the coin diameter less
than 20mm), it needs to make adjustment, the suggested max differ is 1/4 coin
diameter. Until make it to the proper position.
If the X and Y directions deviation is big, please check the focus to collimator
installation level distance, if necessary, add the gasket to make adjustment, such
distance deviation try to control within ±1mm. If it needs to adjust the distance, after
that, it needs to make exposure again.
If the collimator installation distance is correct, but it still needs to adjust the X and Y
directions, don’t to change the collimator and the x ray tube distance, make
adjustment according to the following procedures:
(1) Put the cassette back to the original marked position, put the film on the cassette
surface with a white paper;
(2) Check the film position whether is correct;
(3) Refer to the collimator diaphragm image to make sure the x ray field size and
shape, adjust the light field to overlap;
(4) If it needs to adjust the reflector angle, please remove the collimator shell first,
loose the locked screws to adjust, after the reflector is positioned, lock tight the screws
and install the collimator shell.

If it needs to move the light field horizontally, please remove the collimator shell and
radiator.
Warning:
Don’t touch the radiator directly, otherwise, it will scaholagen fingers.
(1) Lose the lamp socket fixed screws, adjust the lamp side hex bolts, make sure the
two fields are uniformity. Screw the lamp socket to fix the bolts.
Warning:
Don’t touch the lamp, socket or lamp holder by hand directly, otherwise, it will
scaholagen.
Even if the lamp not hot, don’t touch the lamp by hand directly, your skin oil will cause
lamp burst, if touch the lamp yet, please wipe the lamp and then use the paper or
other clean matter to isolate it and then touch.
(2) If it needs to adjust the light field, lose the two curtain board fixed screw bolts,
move the curtain board to the correct position.
(3) Screw tight the the curtain board to fix the screw bolts.
(4) After adjustment, to make exposure again.

Crosshair Calibration
(1) Open the light field;
(2) Rotate the control knobs to adjust the light field to a small line.
(3) Check the crosshair calibration from each direction are focus on the small line;
(4) If need to adjust, just lose the four screw bolts slightly (on the additional filter slot);
(5) Move the surface plate, make position and let the crosshair focus on the light
position;
(6) Screw tight the four bolts.

 Maintenance

1. The use surroundings of collimator should be clean and dry.

2. After installation, the collimator can not withstand the role of external force, so as
not to reduce the firm and reliability connection, but also can not withstand impact, so
as not to damage.
3. It should check the collimator condition regularly. After using a period, it needs to
check the diaphragm whether loose and the collimator whether fixed credible. If find
the loose phenomenon, it needs to fasten in time (suggest check it per month), the
inner mechanical parts allow add few thin lubrication oil, it must to wipe clean the
spare oil.
4. When clean the collimator shell and the transparent window, it should use the soft
colorless coton cloth materials to dip in a little inorganic cleaning agent, wipe them
from inside to outside gently, it is prohibited to use the hard or colored cotton cloth to
wipe, so as to avoid scratch; it is forbidden to use the organic solvent cleaning agent
to wipe.
5. When fault occurs, it should be mended and contacted with the manufacturer
technical service part by the qualified and authorized person.
6. The collimator imitate light field lamp is the holagen lamp, the specification is 24V
150W. When replace the new holagen lamp, it needs to adopt the same specification
lamp, don’t use others.
7. If remove the bad holagen lamp, it should pull out it by the correct direction, don’t
pull out it by the wrong up or side direction, otherwise, it will damage the socket.

Warning:
Except necessary, don’t open the light field cover plate and protective cover.
When make power test, it must far away from the holagen lamp to avoid burn
the eyes and skins.

 Faulty & Solution

If collimator with faulty, it should stop working immediately. If use the faulty collimator,
it will occur security risks for the operator and patient.
The common faulty and solutions as follows:

 Replacement, Remove & Transportation

Replacement
The following operation must be prepared in advance and be done by the authorized
person.

1. Lamp Replacement
Warning: don’t touch by hand directly, otherwise, it will scald the fingers
seriously.
Warning: don’t touch lamp, socket, holder etc, otherwise, it will scald the
fingers seriously.
(1) Cut off power supply.
(2) Remove the back plate.
(3) Remove the radiator.
(4) Remove the bad lamp.
(5) Replace the same specification lamp.
(6) Confirm the holagen lamp pins plug into socket completely.
(7) Check the relative light field / x ray field.
(8) If the light field or light field / x ray field deviation is too big, remove the lamp,
rotate 180° and then install it.

2. Timer Replacement
(1) Cut off power supply.
(2) Remove the knobs.
(3) Remove the front plate.
(4) Remove the two bolts which fix the timer.
(5) Confirm the cable and its position on the terminal plate.
(6) Disconnect the cable and the terminal plate.
(7) Install the timer on the opposite position, pay attention to the connection between
the cable and the terminal plate.
(8) Install the front plate and knobs-- refer to the light field adjustment.

3. Remove
(1) Disconnect the collimator and power supply.
(2) Remove the back plate and disconnect the power cable.
(3) Disconnect the ground protective cable.
(4) If the x ray source assembly is fixed on the spring balance bracket, it needs to lock
the (fixed) x ray source assembly bracket.
(5) Loose the collimator four fixed screw bolts-- don’t make the collimator fall down.

4. Transportation
(1) The packing must be proper.
(2) The collimator with its shell completely.
(3) Put the collimator into the plastic bag to avoid the packing materials pollution.
(4) Pack it with the proper box, handle gently, to avoid the collimator damaged during
transportation.
