Unit Brakes ( W 5245 - 3 - 4 )

S 14 Switch operates the brakes br1, br2 of the compression carriage and S 15 switch
operates the brakes br3, br4, br5 on the under carriage for transverse and Longitudinal
direction.
When the Cassette is moved in the exposure area during preparation S 17 micro switch is
operated, which operates relay hr 1. Relay hr 1 contacts energizes all the brakes on
Compression carriage and under carriage.
Initially a nominal voltage of 6 - 8 Volts is applied to one coil of all brakes through R 1 and
when the corresponding switches for the magnetic brakes are operated, 26 V is applied to the
other coil of the brakes and thus this brings brakes into operation.

Table Tilting Circuit ( W 5245 - 4 - 6 )

S7 Foot Safety Switch

S9 Limit Switch for upright position
S10 Limit Switch for Trendelenburg Position
S 11 Limit Switch for Horizontal Position
S 18u Switch (Control Arm) for tilting unit
S 18a Switch (Control Arm) for up righting unit.
hr 4 Bridging over horizontal position.

Operation of switch S 18 a or S 18 u (Control Arm), Contactors S u or S a is actuated for the table

movement. The limit switches S9 (+90) and S10 (- 12) interrupts the contactor control circuit in the
end positions of the unit.
While tilting the table, limit switch S11 interrupts the control circuit on reaching the horizontal
position (O).If the unit is desired to be tilted in trendelenburg position or upright, control switch to
be released and corresponding control arm switch S 18a or S18u to be operated again.
Pots r5 and r 12 to be set at 22 K and 300 ohms respectively. Pot r12 to be adjusted so that the
relay hr5 picks up on operating S 18 u and is chatter free. Pot r5 is to be adjusted so that, the table
crosses over the horizontal limit switch S 11 Smoothly.

For Vertical Position

When the switch is moved right i.e. to operate S 18 a (NO) is actuated and contactor S a is
switched ON which causes the motor to run in one direction and the table steadily rises to the
vertical position.

28 V ac ⇒ X20.9 ⇒ X11.9 ⇒ X11.7 ⇒ X11.8 ⇒ S18a ⇒ X20.8 ⇒ X2.z4 ⇒ X6.5 ⇒ Su.21

⇒ Su.12 ⇒ Sa1.A1 ⇒Sa1 . A2 ⇒ S9 ⇒ X8.1 ⇒ X4.13 ⇒ S7 ⇒ X4.14 ⇒ OV∼

When the table reaches vertical position, the cam actuates switch S9, thus interrupts the supply to
contactor Sa and the table stops in the vertical position.
To acquire any intermediate position the switch on the control arm should be released when
desired position of the table is attained.

For Horizontal Position

When the switch is moved left, i.e. to actuate S18u, the switch S 18u (NO) operates and contactor
Su is switched ON which causes the motor to rotate in the opposite direction i.e. horizontal and the
table steadily lowers down to the horizontal position and stops in this position when the switch S 11
is actuated by the cam and the supply to Su is interrupted.

When the horizontal position is reached the micro switch S11 opens and the table now stops in this
position.

To acquire any intermediate position, the switch on the control arm should be released when the
desired position of the table is attained.

For Trendelenburg Position

This position is meant to further lower the table by 12 ° w.r.t. the horizontal position. This is
achieved by operating the switch on the control arm.

The micro switch S11 opens on reaching the horizontal position .When S 18 is operated again
rectifier V 21 energizes the relay hr5.

When the hr5 relay is energized, it switches ON the transistor V11 and thus relay hr3 is ON. When
the hr3 relay is ON, contactor hr4 is also ON and the circuit is completed as below.

S10⇒ X8.3 ⇒ hr4 ⇒ OV∼

The table is now further lowered (w.r.t. the horizontal position) until the cam operates the switch S
10 (NC) and the table stops in this position i.e. is the trendelenburg position. The cam is so
adjusted that the table can be lowered only up to 12 ° below the horizontal position.

Circuit Description

Phase Monitoring Circuit ( W 5245 - 15 - 2 )

This circuit monitors all the three incoming phases on the unit and disables the table movements
(Table tilting) if the phase sequence fails.

Phase ‘U ‘is used to generate 12 V Dc for the circuit. Phase ‘V ‘is isolated and converted into
square wave by J 1. Differentiated by R 5 and C 1. Phase ‘W ‘is also isolated and converted into
square wave by J 2.

The output of J3.15 and J3.16 is ored and then integrated to drive the interlocking relay K1. As
long as phase sequence is correct J3.15 goes periodically high and keeps K1 ON.

If any of the phases sequence fails. J3.15 remains low for all the time, thus K1 drops, which in turn
cut the control supply of motor contactors. The fault condition is indicated by red LED V3. A
normally closed contact of K1 is used to light the red lamp externally visible on the table.
