LESSON 4:

Answer and Explain base on the learning materials provided.

1. What will be the 5 tourist spot that you will take extra consideration when you
market Occidental Mindoro as a tourist destination?

 The first one would be Mount Iglit as it is the home to Tamaraw. A lot of
people would be fascinated as it is an endangered species. It would also
be a great attraction spot to those who are interested in mountain
climbing, hiking, or mountaineering as it offers a great view to all who
witnesses it.
 Grace Island Resort. The resort as a whole has a variety of lodgings, but
the floating cottages interconnected by floating bamboo bridges are
exceptional. The marine ecology of the island is home to a plethora of
vibrant fishes and corals that will have you diving in and out. In addition,
guests can simply jump out of their cottage and into the water to swim and
see the corals below.\
 Just a few minutes boat ride you'll reach this relaxing, quite and beautiful
island of Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, Pandan Island as they call it.
Blessed with fine and white sand as well as sea creatures. Best place for
snorkeling. Not too far from the shore you'll find turtles.
 Apo Reef liveaboards provide classic atoll diving experiences, including
plenty of sharks, tremendous drop-offs visited by pelagics, large coral
colonies, and spectacular reef biodiversity. Apo Reef is Asia's largest atoll
and the world's second-largest contiguous coral reef. The Apo Reef
Natural Park, which covers 40 square kilometers and is located about 40
kilometers off the coast of Sablayan in Occidental Mindoro, Philippines,
has been protected since 1996.
 Sablayan may appear to be an unusual location for the world's longest
island-to-island zipline (about 1.5km), but it exists. It's a motorized zipline
that connects the port area to the island of South Pandan. Then you have
the option of paying for the return trip or taking a bangka. The mainland
tower offers rock-wall climbing and rappelling.

2. Knowing that we do have many Mangyan tribes in Occidental Mindoro and that
they have different identities from one another, make a tourism program that will
benefit our tribes to keep their culture alive.
Tribal tourism can provide a wide range of benefits. It can help
individuals learn about and respect diverse lifestyles if handled
respectfully. It can help indigenous tribes exchange and celebrate their
cultures. Festival endeavors, such as awards for street dance
competitions and other tourism-related events and activities, could be one
of these programs. This can showcase the different characteristics and
unique feature of our Mangyan tribes. We can also organize exhibits that
would provide a platform to show off our various things about our
Mangyan tribes such as musical instruments, clothing, foods, and
distinctive crafts.

3. Learners will watch a video clip presentation on Occidental Mindoro Life, Culture and
Tourism. Give reaction on what lessons they learned in the presentation. It will be
written on one whole sheet of paper.

Mindoro is the Philippines' seventh largest island in terms of land area. It is

located northeast of Palawan and off the southwestern coast of Luzon. Occidental
Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro are the two provinces that make up Mindoro. It can be
traveled through land, air, and water. Focusing on Occidental Mindoro, it is the home of
11 municipalities. It’s provincial capital and commercial center is Mamburao. To the
Northwestern tip, we can reach Paluan with a lot of wildlife conservations and
watersheds. Iraya group is the tribe that dwells in Paluan. On the other hand, Sablayan,
the largest municipality of Occ. Mindoro, home of the most captivating islands in the
province namely Pandan Island and Apo Reef. This is where we can find the longest
zipline in Asia. Apo Reef, is the largest coral reef system in the world thus, closely
protected. In San Jose, we can locate the Devil’s Mountain where we can find a wildlife
conservation (Gene Pool Farm) for endangered species of Tamaraw.
Occidental Mindoro, dubbed "Marine Wonderland," is blessed with marine
beauty, including pristine forests, gorgeous white sand beaches, islands and islets rich
in marine life, coral nurseries, intriguing caves, and flowing waterfalls. This is one of the
reasons I enjoy living in this province. The lifestyle's simplicity. Don't forget that we take
in some fresh air here. You can eat even if you don't have any money jus with the
variety of fruits and vegetables planted in our backyard. There is so much more to see
in this province. We have it all including unique lifestyle and cuisines unlike any other.
Being able to live in this wonderful province is a blessing itself, in addition to the warm
and approachable people that lives in it. More than any sight, though, the true rewards
of travel are the people one meets along the way. So, what are you waiting? Let’s
explore, discover, and enjoy our own as if it’s our last.
