INTRODUCTION

The following workshop is going to be developed during a month. It will be divided in four sections. Each section
is going to be done each week.

Use:
We use the Present simple to talk about:
1. Routines and habits: He wakes up every day at 6 AM.
2. Things that are true in general. They live in Bogota.

Form:

1. To form the third person singular (with she, she and it), we add -s, -es or -ies. To the verb.
She speaks Spanish.
2. To form the negative, we use don’t (do not) with I, you, we and they. We use doesn’t (does not) with he, she
and it.
We don’t have dinner together.
He doesn’t do Sodoku puzzles.
3. We use time expressions to say when or how often we do something.
She plays soccer on Saturdays.
4. The time expression usually goes at the end of the sentence.
Eric goes to the bed at 9:30 p.m.
5. Time expressions: every day, every Monday, on the weekend, after school, on Monday, at nine o’clock.

Spelling rules: add -s

Most verbs: add -s


Read—reads play—plays
Verbs that end in -ss, -ch, -sh, -x and -o: add -es.
Kiss—kisses watch—watches wash—washes fix—fixes go—goes
Verbs that end in a consonant + y: drop the y and add -ies.

-To form questions, we use do with I, you, we and they. We use does with he, she it. The word also changes:
Do/Does + subject + + main verb.

-In short answers, we don’t repeat the main verb.
