Esther Chapter 6 ‫ֶאְסֵתּר‬

;0‫ ָנְדָדה ְשַׁנת ַהֶמֶּל‬,‫א ַבַּלּ ְיָלה ַההוּא‬ 1 On that night could not the king
sleep; and he commanded to bring the
‫ֵסֶפר ַהִזְּכֹרנוֹת‬-‫ ְלָהִביא ֶאת‬,‫ַויּ ֹאֶמר‬ book of records of the chronicles, and
‫ ִלְפֵני‬,‫ ַו ִיְּהיוּ ִנְקָרִאים‬,‫ִדְּבֵרי ַהָיִּמים‬ they were read before the king.
.0‫ַהֶמֶּל‬
‫ ֲאֶשׁר ִהִגּיד ָמ ְרֳדַּכי‬,‫ב ַו ִיָּמֵּצא ָכתוּב‬ 2 And it was found written, that
Mordecai had told of Bigthana and
‫ִבְּגָתָנא ָוֶתֶרשׁ ְשֵׁני ָס ִריֵסי‬-‫ַﬠל‬ Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains,
‫ ֲאֶשׁר ִבְּקשׁוּ‬:‫ ַהַסּף‬,‫ִמֹשְּׁמֵרי‬--0‫ַהֶמֶּל‬ of those that kept the door, who had
.‫ ֲאַחְשֵׁורוֹשׁ‬0‫ ַבֶּמֶּל‬,‫ַח ָיד‬V‫ִלְשׁ‬ sought to lay hands on the king
Ahasuerus.

‫ַנֲּﬠָשׂה ְיָקר‬-‫ַמה‬--0‫ג ַויּ ֹאֶמר ַהֶמֶּל‬ 3 And the king said: 'What honour and
dignity hath been done to Mordecai for
‫ֶזה; ַויּ ֹאְמרוּ‬-‫ ַﬠל‬,‫וְּגדוָּלּה ְלָמ ְרֳדַּכי‬ this?' Then said the king's servants that
‫ַנֲﬠָשׂה‬-‫ ל ֹא‬,‫ ְמָשׁ ְרָתיו‬,0‫ַנֲﬠֵרי ַהֶמֶּל‬ ministered unto him: 'There is nothing
.‫ ָדָּבר‬,‫ִﬠמּוֹ‬ done for him.'

‫ ִמי ֶבָחֵצר; ְוָהָמן‬,0‫ד ַויּ ֹאֶמר ַהֶמֶּל‬ 4 And the king said: 'Who is in the
court?'--Now Haman was come into
,‫ ַהִחיצוָֹנה‬0‫ַהֶמֶּל‬-‫ ַלֲחַצר ֵבּית‬,‫ָבּא‬ the outer court of the king's house, to
‫ָמ ְרֳדַּכי‬-‫ ִלְתלוֹת ֶאת‬,0‫ֵלאֹמר ַלֶמֶּל‬ speak unto the king to hang Mordecai
.‫ֵהִכין לוֹ‬-‫ָהֵﬠץ ֲאֶשׁר‬-‫ַﬠל‬ on the gallows that he had prepared for
him.--

‫ִהֵנּה‬--‫ ֵאָליו‬,0‫ה ַויּ ֹאְמרוּ ַנֲﬠֵרי ַהֶמֶּל‬ 5 And the king's servants said unto
him: 'Behold, Haman standeth in the
,0‫ ֹעֵמד ֶבָּחֵצר; ַויּ ֹאֶמר ַהֶמֶּל‬,‫ָהָמן‬ court.' And the king said: 'Let him
.‫ָיבוֹא‬ come in.'

,0‫ ַויּ ֹאֶמר לוֹ ַהֶמֶּל‬,‫ ָהָמן‬,‫ו ַוָיּבוֹא‬ 6 So Haman came in. And the king
said unto him: 'What shall be done
‫ ָחֵפץ‬0‫ַלֲּﬠשׂוֹת ָבִּאישׁ ֲאֶשׁר ַהֶמֶּל‬-‫ַמה‬ unto the man whom the king delighteth
‫ ְלִמי‬,‫ ְבִּלבּוֹ‬,‫ִבּיָקרוֹ; ַויּ ֹאֶמר ָהָמן‬ to honour?'--Now Haman said in his

‫ יוֵֹתר‬,‫ ַלֲﬠשׂוֹת ְיָקר‬0‫ַיְחֹפּץ ַהֶמֶּל‬ heart: 'Whom would the king delight to
honour besides myself?'--
.‫ִמֶמִּנּי‬
,‫ ִאישׁ‬:0‫ַהֶמֶּל‬-‫ ֶאל‬,‫ז ַויּ ֹאֶמר ָהָמן‬ 7 And Haman said unto the king: 'For
the man whom the king delighteth to
.‫ ָחֵפץ ִבּיָקרוֹ‬0‫ֲאֶשׁר ַהֶמֶּל‬ honour,

-‫ ֲאֶשׁר ָלַבשׁ‬,‫ח ָיִביאוּ ְלבוּשׁ ַמְלכוּת‬ 8 let royal apparel be brought which
the king useth to wear, and the horse
‫ ֲאֶשׁר ָרַכב ָﬠָליו‬,‫; ְוסוּס‬0‫בּוֹ ַהֶמֶּל‬ that the king rideth upon, and on
,‫ ַוֲאֶשׁר ִנַתּן ֶכֶּתר ַמְלכוּת‬,0‫ַהֶמֶּל‬ whose head a crown royal is set;
.‫ְבּר ֹאשׁוֹ‬
-‫ַיד‬-‫ ַﬠל‬,‫ט ְוָנתוֹן ַהְלּבוּשׁ ְוַהסּוּס‬ 9 and let the apparel and the horse be
delivered to the hand of one of the
,‫ ַהַפּ ְרְתִּמים‬0‫ִאישׁ ִמָשֵּׂרי ַהֶמֶּל‬ king's most noble princes, that they
0‫ ֲאֶשׁר ַהֶמֶּל‬,‫ָהִאישׁ‬-‫ְוִהְלִבּישׁוּ ֶאת‬ may array the man therewith whom the
,‫ַהסּוּס‬-‫ָחֵפץ ִבּיָקרוֹ; ְוִה ְרִכּיֻבהוּ ַﬠל‬ king delighteth to honour, and cause
him to ride on horseback through the
‫ ָכָּכה‬,‫ ְוָק ְראוּ ְלָפָניו‬,‫ִבּ ְרחוֹב ָהִﬠיר‬ street of the city, and proclaim before
‫ ָחֵפץ‬0‫ֵיָﬠֶשׂה ָלִאישׁ ֲאֶשׁר ַהֶמֶּל‬ him: Thus shall it be done to the man
whom the king delighteth to honour.'
.‫ִבּיָקרוֹ‬
‫ ַמֵהר ַקח‬,‫ ְלָהָמן‬0‫י ַויּ ֹאֶמר ַהֶמֶּל‬ 10 Then the king said to Haman:
'Make haste, and take the apparel and
‫ַהסּוּס ַכֲּאֶשׁר‬-‫ַהְלּבוּשׁ ְוֶאת‬-‫ֶאת‬ the horse, as thou hast said, and do
,‫ֵכן ְלָמ ְרֳדַּכי ַה ְיּהוִּדי‬-‫ ַוֲﬠֵשׂה‬,‫ִדַּבּ ְרָתּ‬ even so to Mordecai the Jew, that
‫ַתֵּפּל‬-‫ ַאל‬:0‫ַהיּוֵֹשׁב ְבַּשַׁﬠר ַהֶמֶּל‬ sitteth at the king's gate; let nothing
fail of all that thou hast spoken.'
.‫ ִמֹכּל ֲאֶשׁר ִדַּבּ ְרָתּ‬,‫ָדָּבר‬
-‫ַהְלּבוּשׁ ְוֶאת‬-‫יא ַו ִיַּקּח ָהָמן ֶאת‬ 11 Then took Haman the apparel and
the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and
;‫ָמ ְרֳדָּכי‬-‫ ַוַיְּלֵבּשׁ ֶאת‬,‫ַהסּוּס‬ caused him to ride through the street of
‫ ַו ִיְּקָרא‬,‫ ִבּ ְרחוֹב ָהִﬠיר‬,‫ַוַיּ ְרִכּיֵבהוּ‬ the city, and proclaimed before him:
‫ ָכָּכה ֵיָﬠֶשׂה ָלִאישׁ ֲאֶשׁר‬,‫ְלָפָניו‬ 'Thus shall it be done unto the man
whom the king delighteth to honour.'
.‫ ָחֵפץ ִבּיָקרוֹ‬0‫ַהֶמֶּל‬
;0‫ַשַׁﬠר ַהֶמֶּל‬-‫ ֶאל‬,‫יב ַוָיָּשׁב ָמ ְרֳדַּכי‬ 12 And Mordecai returned to the king's
gate. But Haman hasted to his house,
‫ ָאֵבל ַוֲחפוּי‬,‫ֵבּיתוֹ‬-‫ְוָהָמן ִנְדַחף ֶאל‬ mourning and having his head
.‫ר ֹאשׁ‬ covered.

-‫ וְּלָכל‬,‫יג ַו ְיַסֵפּר ָהָמן ְלֶזֶרשׁ ִאְשׁתּוֹ‬ 13 And Haman recounted unto Zeresh
his wife and all his friends every thing
‫ֲאֶשׁר ָקָרהוּ; ַויּ ֹאְמרוּ‬-‫ ָכּל‬,‫ ֵאת‬,‫ֹאֲהָביו‬ that had befallen him. Then said his
‫ ִאם ִמֶזַּרע‬,‫לוֹ ֲחָכָמיו ְוֶזֶרשׁ ִאְשׁתּוֹ‬ wise men and Zeresh his wife unto
‫ַה ְיּהוִּדים ָמ ְרֳדַּכי ֲאֶשׁר ַהִחלּוָֹת ִל ְנֹפּל‬ him: 'If Mordecai, before whom thou
hast begun to fall, be of the seed of the
,‫ָנפוֹל ִתּפּוֹל‬-‫ִכּי‬--‫תוַּכל לוֹ‬-‫ְלָפָניו ל ֹא‬ Jews, thou shalt not prevail against
.‫ְלָפָניו‬ him, but shalt surely fall before him.'

‫ ְוָס ִריֵסי‬,‫יד עוָֹדם ְמַדְבּ ִרים ִﬠמּוֹ‬ 14 While they were yet talking with
him, came the king's chamberlains, and
-‫ ִהִגּיעוּ; ַוַיְּבִהלוּ ְלָהִביא ֶאת‬0‫ַהֶמֶּל‬ hastened to bring Haman unto the
‫ָﬠְשָׂתה‬-‫ַהִמְּשֶׁתּה ֲאֶשׁר‬-‫ ֶאל‬,‫ָהָמן‬ banquet that Esther had prepared.
