Lesson 2.1 Introduction to Fraction
Fractions are numbers that represent a part
of the whole. When an object or a group of
objects is divided into equal parts, then each
individual part is a fraction. A fraction is
usually written as 1/2 or 5/12 or 7/18 and so
on. It is divided into a numerator and
denominator where the denominator
represents the total number of equal parts
into which the whole is divided. The
numerator is the number of equal parts that
are taken out. For e.g. in the fraction 3/4, 3 is
the numerator and 4 is the denominator.
