CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

A wooden spoon is a spoon made from a piece of wood. Used to cook and scoop food to customers.

I am very thankful to my beloved brother and friends for all the support to ensure that I succeed in my
project research, also wish to appreciate the school department, my teacher, classmates for improving
learning environment which was of help to me.

DEDICATION

With all the respect and love I would like to dedicate this project to my beloved grandmother, my friend
Scola who helped me a lot to come up with the project with great ideas to achieve my goals.
OBJECTIVES

1. To investigate whether a wooden spoon can create job opportunities to non-employed people.

2. To show how a wooden spoon can be used like metallic spoons.

3. To find out skills required to make a wooden spoon.

CHAPTER 2

Equipment and materials used in making a wooden spoon

i. Saw-used for cutting timber


ii. Tape measure-for measuring size and shape of the timber to be used
iii. Sand paper-for smoothening the piece of timber to be used
iv. Spock machine-used to cut, shape the timber and to finish the wood work
v. Work station-used for working efficiently and fast

CHAPTER 3

The following are steps followed in making a wooden spoon:

Step 1

Collect all the materials and requirements needed for making a wooden spoon.

Step 2

Draw the outline of the spoon to be curved on the piece of wood. On the side, draw how you want the
spoon to look and how deep the bowl of the spoon will be. On the top draw the shape on the top view.

Step 3

Curve the bowl of the spoon by removing the wood that is in the bowl of the spoon.

Step 4

Cut the rough outline made on the top of the wood using a hand saw.

Step 5

Cut the side view of the spoon and the handle to the admired shape to be rough.

Step 6

Shape the spoon and smooth it out to the shape you want using a sand paper.

Step 7

Finish the spoon by pouring Tung oil or any other non-toxic oil and rubbing it in. Let it dry.

CONCLUSION
If a wooden spoon is well made, it can be sold to other establishments and become a source of
income.
It can also create self-employment.
