Decontamination Procedure for CA-500

Attention

(1) The measurement data must be checked using Control before and after performing Decontamination
Procedure.
>The measurement data will be changed if the hypochlorite solution is remained in the tubing
system!
(2) High Concentration of hypochlorite solution could cause to the tubing membranes and pipettes.
>The hypochlorite solution should not be used with a concentration higher than 5 %!
(3) Leaving the hypochlorite solution for long time could cause damage to the CA-500.
>The hypochlorite solution should not remain longer than 10 minutes in the CA-500!
(4) The hypochlorite solution has a high effect on measurement result even with very low concentration.
>Do not skip any rinse & prepare process in the following steps!
(5) Rinse & Prepare process in any of the following steps needs each solution of approx. 50mL.

1. Purpose
Use this procedure to decontaminate and rinse when the tubing system is contaminated.
The procedure takes approx. 30 minutes to decontaminate the tubing system completely.

2. Preparation
(1) Beaker
(2) 700 ml of Hypochlorite Solution (5%)
(3) 100 ml of Ethanol (70% or higher)

3.Procedure
(1) Drain
1) Discard the remaining rinse solution in the rinse bottle.

2) Press the Drain liquid* key twice.
5) Discard the drain liquid in the Waste bottle.

(2) Decontamination
1) Pour the rinse bottle with 700ml of hypochlorite solution.

2) Press the Rinse & Prepare* key for twice.
3) After Rinse & Preparation process is completes, wait for 10 minutes.
4) Discard the remaining hypochlorite solution in the rinse bottle. Wipe and dry the float switch with lint
free tissue.

5) Press the Drain liquid* key twice.
6) Swirl the waste bottle to clean the remained drain liquid. Discard the liquid in the waste bottle.
7) Pour the rinse bottle with 100mL of ethanol and shake.
8) Discard the ethanol and pour the rinse bottle with 200mL of distilled water and shake. Repeat this step
twice.

(3) Rinse of the Remaining hypochlorite Solution

1) Pour the rinse bottle with 700mL of distilled water.
2) Press the Rinse & Prepare key for twice.
3) Discard the distilled water from the rinse bottle.
4) Press the Drain Liquid key for twice.
5) Discard the liquid from the waste bottle.
6) Pour the rinse bottle with 2000mL of distilled water.
7) Clean the surface of the probe with ethanol.
8) Press the Rinse & Prepare key for six times.
9) Swirl the waste bottle to clean the remained distilled water and discard.
*1 Drain Liquid
Select Special menu -> Special Operate -> Service -> Test Menu -> Drain Liquid from the service
program.
(1) Execute Water Drain Process 1.
(2) Place the lint free tissues on the rinse cup to avoid spattering from the pipette etc
(3) Execute Water Drain Process 2.
(4) Remove the lint free tissues from the rinse cup.

*2 Rinse & Prepare

Select Special Menu -> Special Operate -> Rinse & Prepare from the user menu.

Remarks
> A service engineer should perform this procedure on an as needed basis.
> This procedure can be performed together with a preventive maintenance.
