Design Approach
The Wastewater generated from the apartment is classified as Sewage and Sullage; sewage is the
wastewater generated from water closet, where sullage is the wastewater generated from
Kitchen, Bathrooms and Wash Area. It should be treated separately because of the difference in
its characteristics. A separate system is proposed for the treatment of wastewater generated.

1. Screening of Sullage
Sullage will be screened for separating floating as well as coarse particle present in the
wastewater. The particles deposited on the screen shall be cleaned manually. Screening should
be properly done for the protection of pumps and plumbing line. Screened solids shall be
collected and separated from plastic or non-biodegradable materials. The non-biodegradable
solids shall be subjected to land filling or sanitary land filling or dried and incinerated. After
proper screening the sullage will be channeled to grit cum oil separator

2. Grit cum Oil Separator


Just after the preliminary screening the wastewater shall be passed through oil separator, in
which the heavy solid particle will be settled down at the bottom of first compartment, oil and
grease will float at the second compartment, which shall be removed manually and stored for
further treatment and disposal on a regular basis. Water flowing out from oil separator will be
almost free from oil content and it shall be treated effectively in the further unit process
reactors. Water flows out from the oil separator shall be channeled to equalization tank.

3. Equalization Tank and Pumping System


Over flow water from the grit cum oil separator shall be collected in an equalization tank,
which is also designed with a capacity to hold the peak flow. The tank shall be designed with a
retention time of 12 hrs. Wastewater from the equalization tank shall be uniformly pumped to

next unit using submersible/Monoblock pumps. Two pumps will be used for pumping the
wastewater, one pump will be on duty and the other will be on standby mode.

4. Flocculation Tank - 1
A mild dose of coagulant will be used for the production of larger floccs from the suspended
impurities and other organic matter present in the water coming out from the oil separator.
Thorough mixing is attained using air which will enhance the effectiveness of flocculation. Over
flow from the flocculation tank is then routed to the Settling Tank - 2

5. Settling Tank - 1
Over flow from the flocculation tank 1 is held in the settling tank 1 for a predetermined
hydraulic retention time, in which the coarse particle will settle down under gravity. There is no
chemical addition anticipated in this unit operation. The solid content present in the wastewater
may settle down under gravity and the clear water rise up. This clear water shall be overflown
to the flocculation tank -2. Solids settled at the bottom of the settling tank shall be pumped out
and dried in sludge drying bed.

6. Flocculation Tank - 2
Overflow from the settling tank 1 is connected to flocculation tank 2. A mild dose of coagulant

tank is then routed to the SettlingTank -2

7. Settling Tank - 2

The filtration system proposed here is composed of Pressure Sand Filter, Activated Carbon filter
and Micron Cartridge Filter. The Pressure Sand Filter, Activated Carbon Filter and Micron
Cartridge filter are fitted in Series. Treated effluent shall be pumped to the pressure sand filter
first and it will allowed to pass through the Activated Carbon Filter followed by micron cartridge
filter

9. Disinfection System
Disinfection system consists of chemical dosing for the complete deactivation of any harmful
microorganism in the water. If it is required, two stages of chlorination will be done for the
effective disinfection of the treated water. Disinfection shall be done using sodium hypochlorite
solution. After adding hypochlorite into the filter feed tank, a predetermined time will be
provided to make enough contact time for the disinfectant to deactivate the microorganism
present in the treated water. Post chlorination can be done after the cartridge filtration unit.
Final effluent will be stored in a collection tank for reuse such as gardening, floor washing,
flushing, dripping in the urinals etc.

10. Treated Water Collection and Disposal


Water flowing out from the filter shall be collected in treated water collection tank. The treated
water from collection tank is pumped to overhead flush water tanks for using it as flush water,
gardening and floor washing. Excess water generated after the treatment shall be disposed to
land for percolation through soak pit.

11. Sludge Drying Bed


Sludge drying beds are provided to allow surplus sludge that is withdrawn from the process to
dry for easier handling. Sludge drying relies on an underground drainage system as well as
sunshine. Liquid from the underdrains should be returned to the sewage treatment process for
further treatment.

Sludge contains a high concentration of solids, but its water content is still high. Combined
primary and secondary sludge from an activated sludge treatment plant contains about 2 %
solids and hence 98 % water. One kg of dry sludge is associated with 49 L of water. Thickening
is carried out in a sedimentation tank or in a sedimentation pond. The latter is advantageous if

land area is available, because the sludge can be allowed to settle over a much longer period and
a higher solids content of the thickened sludge is achieved. Dried sludge can be used as manure.

The sludge generated from both the settling tank shall be routed to sludge drying bed. There will
be three to four beds in series. The solid waste obtained from the settling tanks shall be pumped
to this sludge drying bed and will be allowed to be dried under the sun. There will be three to
four beds, in which the first bed will be charged and used for the first week. Like this, other beds
will be used for the proceeding weeks. The first bed will be dried with in the time taken for first
cycle. Dried sludge can be stored in cool and dry place for many years, which can be used as
manure.

Client’s Scope
1. Sullage network and all the civil works listed in the unit sizes.

2. Core cutting wherever required

3. Providing electrical power supply and cabling works up to the Control Panel.

4. Electrical works in our scope includes Panel board, 100 m cable work and Cu earthing.
And for extra distance ` 150/m for cable and `. 250/m for Cu earthing will be
chargeable.

5. Providing fresh water during commissioning.

6. Material handling at site.

7. Insurance for the equipment.

8. Safekeeping of equipment during erection and commissioning.

Terms and Condition

Scope of work

Design : Design is based on the thump rules and assumption


Supply : Supply of mechanical equipment, electrical, piping as per the above given
details
Civil : Construction of Civil Unit in MS/RCC/Brick Works are under client scope
Erection : Erection of unit is under our scope

Schedule of exclusion and deviation


 Approach to site and storage of equipment during erection work
 Power/Lighting/Water at the site of work on 24 hours basis
 Incoming with earthling Feeder Connection to the Panel and Energization of the panel
 Treated water pipeline beyond the out let of the tanks
 All Civil Work

Commercial Terms and Condition


Variation/addition in scope of supply
The scope of supply is restricted to supply of equipment as specified in the proposal. Any
subsequent additions or alterations will be acceptable to us provided it is convenient to do so
and the prices and the delivery period are suitably revised

Delivery
We shall design, manufacture and supply electro mechanical equipment within 45 days. The
above delivery period shall be reckoned from the date of receipt of the advance and
commercially as well as technically clear purchase order or completion of civil work mentioned
in the unit sizes, whichever is later

Completion
If the completion of work is delayed beyond the contractual date for reasons under your control
as listed out here under but not limited to them, we shall be entitled to suitable readjustments in
the period of completion by mutual consent and the contract will stand amended to that extent.

 Delay in approval of final drawings beyond a period of 5 days from the date of
submission by us.
 Delay in inspection beyond the appointed date or delay in approval of test certificates,
whenever required, beyond a period of 15days from the date of submission by us.
 Delay in release of dispatch clearance or hold up of work due to your specific
instructions or lack of instruction.
 Delay in release of advance or progress payments due to us beyond 15 days from the due
date.
 Delay attributable to Force Majeure conditions, more particularly detailed under
appropriate clause hereunder.

Warranty
Biocoenosis Envirotech has a strong Quality Management System to ensure that all the
equipment is duly checked prior to dispatch and tracked post-delivery. The equipment,
therefore, can be depended upon for long and trouble free service. Our liability in respect of any
defect or failure in the equipment supplied and commissioned by us or any loss, injury or
damage attributable therefore shall be limited to making good by replacement or repairs,
provided the equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with our instructions and
arise totally from proven faulty design, materials or workmanship. This warranty shall be valid
for a period of 18 months from the date of dispatch. Our liability in no case shall exceed the
invoiced value of the equipment supplied by us, and we shall not be liable for any consequential
damage or loss such as loss of profits, loss of business opportunities, damage to goodwill or
business reputation or any other contractual liability or loss suffered by the purchaser to third
parties. All warranties other than title either express or implied whether arising under law or
equity including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose are excluded
from the contract. This is the essence of the contract.

This warranty is valid subject to the following conditions:


 Bought out components are guaranteed by us only to the extent of guarantees given to us
by our suppliers. Electrical components such as, motors, contactors, etc., rubber
components and instruments such as pressure gauges, etc. are however not covered
under this warranty.

 In respect of the equipment where dispatch after readiness is delayed due to specific
instructions or lack of instructions from you, the warranty will be limited to 18 months
from the date of readiness for dispatch of equipment as notified by us.
 No repairs or replacements, unless authorized by us in writing, will be carried out by any
other party on our equipment during the warranty period.

The warranty period does not cover the following:


 Normal wear and tear
 Damages/defects arising out of mal-operation of the plant by the purchaser, accidents,
acts of God or other conditions as included normally in the asset insurance schedule
 The equipment or part thereof being subject to alteration
 The equipment not being operated and maintained as per Operation and Maintenance

Engineers shall be present for supervision of the civil work, free of cost.
