Reflection Paper

During this first semester the organization of Hospitality Management conduct a webinar
wherein some strategies are discussed by the guest’s speaker. The presentation was entitled as
“The Next normal- The future of Hospitality and Tourism Industry and it was Presented by Ms.
Cindy O. Gaston- Villaroman.

During the said webinar Ms. Cindy started on discussing when and where did the
pandemic start. She also mentioned the countries that are affected by the said virus. Due to
COVID-19 there are lots of changes, businesses are affected, specifically the Tourism and
Hospitality Industry. On her discussion, she talked about on what we should expect in the new
normal because even the pandemic is over it is sure that we cannot go back to what we all used
to be, especially with the businesses which I agreed, based with the observation I did there are
changes that we must embrace to keep on going. She mentioned some ways on how we are
coping with the sudden changes such as Ease travel restrictions that aims to increased the
adoption of digital solution for the safety when it comes to traveling. The Liquidity and Fiscal
measures support that will provide funds on the next four years for the COVID-19 testing, wage
subsidies and assistance to MSMEs. The Workers protection, it says that to make our customer
safe we should also prioritize making our employees safety. The Investing in innovation and
technology, we all know that technology plays a n important role to meet the new changes or
challenges that are brought by the said pandemic and it also maintains the effectiveness of the
operations. Lastly, Ms. Cindy shared us how she sees the future of Travel and Tourism, it
includes the demand evolution as mentioned domestic travels are on the number one demand of
the guests and online registration and payment is made to avoid the physical contacts, health and
hygiene this means that we must follow the implemented protocols to make ourselves and our
employees and clients to be safe, innovation & digitization this includes using social media
platforms for conducting some activities to still satisfy the clients as well as making them more
safe and the sustainability it will help us to meet our customers demand and also creates new
opportunity for us.

They used this opportunity to enlighten us the students on how to cope up with the new
normal. With the webinar, I got to know lots of way to make things happen and to embrace the
changes and see the opportunities hidden within it.
