Format of a 5 – paragraph Essay

give CONNECTING INFORMATION. Then we the most
important sentence at the end of the paragraph – the
THESIS STATEMENT.
The first sentence of this 1st Body Paragraph is the TOPIC

1st Body Paragraph SENTENCE, and it MUST SUPPORT THE THESIS
STATEMENT. After this topic sentence, we write many
sentences that MUST SUPPORT THE TOPIC SENTENCE
of this paragraph. Remember to use various types of
sentences: simple, compound and complex sentences.

2nd Body Paragraph SENTENCE, and it MUST SUPPORT THE THESIS

3rd Body Paragraph SENTENCE, and it MUST SUPPORT THE THESIS
The first sentence of this Concluding Paragraph should

RESTATE the Thesis of the Essay. Remember not add any
Concluding Paragraph new information in this paragraph. Accordingly, the last
sentence/ sentences of an essay may be: suggestions, a
question, predictions or an opinion about the topic.
