THE FIRM AND LEVEL OF PROFESSIONAL STANDING

Introduction
The Company was registered in the name of AL-KHAIRAT BUILDING MATERIALS
TRADING CO. LTD in 1980 in Somalia and has the following brief activities and
background information:-

Construction and logistics :

The company had its origins in 1980 in Mogadishu Somalia, when they commenced small scale
housing projects and after two years the company had tendered for large public works and
commercial projects, through the civil war the company survived and continued to restore,
rehabilitate, maintain some notable landmarks including major buildings, Irrigation canals,
barrages, bridges, culverts, river embankment reinforcements, agricultural land preparations
and road rehabilitations. In eighty’s the company, working as a major contractor to Somali
commercial bank, built all the bank headquarter offices and staff houses in the whole regions
of Somalia with associations with JEPCO as associate company.

By the late 1980s, having ventured into Transportation development, the company included its
activity significant land transportation and logistics contracting beside construction. In 1993 the
company established material procurement and supply, construction division. Construction
division of the company remained one of the firm’s highly diversified of two divisions. With
the difficult moments and the challenges of the civil war which placed considerable pressure on
the company, the company remained firm and operational.

Through providing high quality works and services, made the company recognized as a national
class company and will promote the perception by committing itself to improve the quality by
using state-of-art technology and knowledge .In order to achieve this mission the company
provides expert and dedicated teams with creativity, innovation and high visions. The company
has experienced significant fluctuation during recent years and gained considerable respect
from the client. Comparing company early growth in eighties and state of hibernations in the
first half of nineties company organizational maturity reveals that the company is growing.
Through adopting executive plans in line with developmental principles, the company’s
management has been able to maintain its growth. Due to the non linear growth, as well as
developmental strategies we have flexible organizational chart in order to guarantee company’s
rapid growth and satisfy the needs of the clients to its maximum.

of the country for erecting Telecommunication antennas for Somali post and
telecommunications.

distribution in M/Shabelle, Hiran, Bakol and Bay regions.

Last 16 Year from (1980 – 1996) the activities carried out include :-
1. A contract of unloading of heavy containers from Mogadishu seaport to be transport to the
UNOSOM HEADQUARTERS.
2. Transportation of construction materials to the regional capitals especially Jowhar, Belet-
Wiene, Merca, Baidoa etc. where UNOSOM troops were stationed.
3. Transportation of heavy and light equipment owned by UNOSOM troops to their various
sites in and around Mogadishu.
4. Supply of bulk fuel (two thousand tons per month) to Mogadishu markets.
5. Supply of 48 generators to UNOSOM for various purposes.
6. Furnishing of all Mogadishu police stations and divisions headquarters.
7. Rehabilitation of sixteen police station.
8. Rehabilitation of five police division H.Qs.
9. Rehabilitation of two stores Annex building for the police Headquarters.
10. Rehabilitation of the ground floor of Somali police forces head quarter.
11. Rehabilitation of Romanian field hospital in Mogadishu Airport

ALKHAIRAT COMPANY IN KENYA AND IN SOMALIA

In the year 2010 the Alkhairat Co was incorporated into a Limited Company in the
name of AL-KHAIRAT BUILDING MATERIALS TRADING CO. (K) LIMITED.

Background
This is a Somali company registered in Kenya and has its operations both in Kenya and
Somalia. Besides its import and export business, Alkhairat has been providing services to
UN/WFP (World Food Programme of the United Nations) since 2007. And currently sectors
that our company provides services to UN/WFP include:-

1. Ocean Transshipment (Freight) – food aid consignments from the ports:- Djibouti,
Dubai UAE, Mombasa Kenya, Dar Es salaam Tanzania, port Elizabeth SA, Durban
South Africa and others around the world.

2. Inland Transport – food and non food items throughout the country to final
destinations.

3. Overland Transport – from Djibouti, Ethiopia and Kenya to Somalia.


4. Warehousing of food and none food items – storing, handling in and out of the
w/houses in side Somalia.

WFP has contracted Al-khairat to transport (Ocean Freights) of food and non food items from
various ports (in Africa and Asia) to Somalia in different ports (Mogadishu, Bosasso and
Berbera etc).

Our Co has transported over 50,000 mts of food and non food items through ocean transport
from Mombasa (Kenya), Dar Es salaam (Tanzania), Djibouti, Port Elizabeth SA, Durban of SA,
Dubai UAE to ports in Somalia.

This month Feb 2012, our company is awarded an ocean contract of 9,236 mts from Mombasa
to Bosasso and Berbera of various food and non-food-items. M/V Capt Osama of 12,000 mts
capacity is ready to start loading on Monday 13 February 2012.

We also had both inland and overland transportation contracts from wfp; to transport from the
warehouses inside the country to various destinations points in Somalia (Inland) and from
w/houses in Mombasa, Kenya to boarder districts in Somalia.
