Assignment #3 Part 1: CSN Websites & Resources

1. List 3 resources that can be found on the CSN Education

● ISTE Standard

○ This website allows a new generation of learners to reference through sources and

materials for their careers as a teacher. Many learners and students come to this

specific website to learn more about the studies of technology learning.

● Common Core State Standards Initiative

○ This particular website hosts the elements of standardized lectures of mathematics

and english language arts. This site explores the expectation for a student to be

familiar with their skills of both math and english, so they can be familiar with the

standardized testing and many other sources of their education.

● CCSD Students Curriculum (CEF) Grade 3

○ This document references what a teacher would do in his/ her classroom when

lecturing third grade students. Teachers and learners will always take references to

this document because it shows what to teach for their students in a classroom.

Even with this document, most teachers always use textbooks and this document

to overview their preference lecture for their students.

2. Locate the Field Observation Student Information link. Identify 3 items listed under the

guidelines.

● It is aware that you choose a region to whom the school is located. Therefore,

CCSD will locate the school of your choosing which is also the three digit codes

of the school of that specific region

● From the priorities of COVID-19, all the requirements are all done online first.

After the procedure is done online, the observation will be in person with your

coordinating teacher for 10 hours.

● Exhibit B, Exhibit C, & The Field Observation Packet with everything filled

inside will be required throughout the entire assessment

3. Locate the CSN Library & Resources Link. Identify three resources that can be used to

conduct research on your topic.

● Using the Browse Database will allow you access to other online sources for your needs

of researching a topic. For me, I used EBSCO Complete for my research on education.

● Being a library, you can use the Find Books tab, so you can read books for your topic of

research. For me, I used Special Education in Contemporary Society by Richard M.

Gargulo.

● You can always reference your needs at the library by using the Research Help tab. This

will inquire the needs of your research including how to cite, a guide to researching, and

other affiliations for researching research.

4. Locate the Nevada Computer and Technology Standards link. Locate page 4.

The Nevada Computer and Technology Standards is defined as how a student is expected

to do at a certain grade level. It also serves a system in how you would analyze their benefits or

performance of their grade level. It outlines the grading levels for students to know around the

end of the semester. Standards in the 21st century have a lifespan from 5 to 7 years.

5. Locate the Directions for the Weebly Portfolio Link. Select a course and list one artifact that is

required for the Portfolio (also called the E- Portfolio)

I selected EDU 214 as a choice of artifacts to inquire in a E- Portfolio if someone was to

start a website. The artifacts that cover your classroom will innovate your students on how you're

presenting yourself as a teacher.

Assignment #3 Part 2: CCSD Websites & Resources

1. Locate 3 resources on the ccsd.net website. Provide a description for each resource.

● Infinite Campus

○ This particular source will refer to the students overall status of attendance,

grades, and secondary citizenship. Parents of a student will always refer to this

site because it will show the performance that a student has done for their school.

● Safe Voice

○ This source allows a student or a parent to report a threat, incidents, or bullying.

Because of the recent danger that schools have been going through in the past

decade, this system introduces the information for a student or staff members
 delivering details about an incident or a report that has caused the endangered

environment of education. Gun violence has started to become very dangerous for

school environments, and bullying has been the biggest issue in schools today.

There are too many uncertain people making dangerous acts to an enclosed

learning property, and this source material can resolve the issues with the violence

today.

● Newsroom

○ This source delivers any latest updates, reports, or press releases from the Clark

County School District (CCSD). Most students and parents will reference this

source because the school district will have some certain news or reports that will

draw their attention to the school or the district.

2. Select the “employees” link at the top of the menu bar. Scroll down and locate the heading for

“current employee information”, Select “Salary Information," Select the salary schedule for

licensed personnel. What is the annual salary for a first year teacher in CCSD?

For the Licensed Personnel under the Professional Salary Table - Fiscal Year of 2022, the

first thing I saw on the annual salary for a teacher of its first year of CCSD was around $41,758.

If you were to estimate that total, it would be around 42 thousand dollars. However, in terms of

my math calculations, I see the first 16 to 26 months adding in for an additional thousand dollars.

If you take the $41,758 and divide it by a thousand dollars, it would come out to $41.76.

However, if you’re to take that number and multiply it by 12 which is 12 months that equals a

year, that means that a first year teacher would make around $501.10. I hope this math works
because I spend like hours to figure out the possible amount that a teacher would make by their

paycheck. I know teachers don’t make a ton of money, but it’s worth teaching a lecture besides

talking about tax returns and other financials of your account.

3. Return to the employee link at the top of the menu. Scroll down and locate the heading

for “current employee information”, Scroll down to employee resources, Select licensed

personnel, Locate the section” employee resources - teachers.” List three resources that can be

found under this heading. Provide a description for each resource

● Licensed Personnel Employment Information

○ This document contains more regulations and other source materials from CCSD

under your employment. These rules are to be followed for most teachers who're

starting their first year.

● Procedure for Requesting a Substitute (SmartFind Express)

○ This document consists of procedures and duties to recruit a substitute if in need

of being absent or if you're sick. Because of various reasons for a teacher to

recruit a substitute, it's their responsibility for a substitute to reach out to a teacher

for beneficial terms of a classroom or students.

● What To Do If You Are Sick or Need To Be Absent

○ To escalate the previous resource, this specific document covers the procedures if

you're feeling contagious or if you're going to be absent for a certain amount of

 days. This is certain for some teachers who's not willing to cover a lecture in case

a relative passes away, being on vacation for a school event, or because of your

exposure to COVID-19 (permanently). If these terms do take place, they would

have to call the administrator and do the substitute procedure.

provide to your students. Provide a description of each resource

● Student Activities

○ It contains eligibility components for students with enhanced academic

achievements in various activities, fine arts, and athletics. Mostly contains athletic

rules, and other academic activities.

● Scholarships

○ This provides scholarship applications and other information for students to apply

for any further education upon college or university. It's recommended to graduate

students from high school if they want to apply.

● Notice of Nondiscrimination

○ This documentation delivers information regarding to the discrimination that has

caused students with sexual abuse or attention to other peope and teachers.
 Discrimination is a huge issue to students who're being faced by unrecognizable

strangers because nobody can stop the benefits from preventing discriminations in

schools. That said, CCSD has filed the concerns on their site for futher

information to prevent discrimination in school.

5. Identify a resource that can be useful for the parents of the students in your classroom. Provide

a brief explanation.

Parents would refer to Infinite Campus because they have access to acknowledge their

students' performance in education. This includes calculations of the attendance of school, the

overall grading of a test or homework, and major benefits for any qualifications for a class or

college. Infinite Campus is a useful source for all students and parents. It shows exactly what

kind of circumstances has to be done in school and how to fix the issue of an assignment or test.

Me and my sister are still familiar with Infinite Campus because we need to know what we can

do to achieve our education for a future opportunity for college. My sister still uses Infinite

Campus to track down her assignments today, and I'm using Canvas as my guide for college

purposes. Canvas and Infinite Campus, still the same source material for all students and parents.
