The purpose of this Work Instruction is to clarify the split of work between Process (PCS) and
Equipments & Packages (EQP) disciplines during engineering execution phase with a special care paid
for all pieces of equipment supplied as package.
The intent of this instruction is not to create a segregation of responsibilities between the two entities but
to bring a better mutual understanding between disciplines, to avoid gaps and to optimise interfaces.
The present work instruction describes the activities during the various project phases:
• Project launching,
• Equipment specifications,
• Vendor offer review / TBE (Technical Bid Evaluation) preparation,
• Selected vendor documentation management.

4. ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTION
The table in Attachment A displays the split of work between the two disciplines. A cross in the relevant
column indicates which discipline is responsible for each listed activity or document.
This table is self explanatory, however the following points need to be highlighted:
This document is the property of the Company who will safeguard its rights according to the civil and penal provisions of the law.
The following disciplines shall participate to the Equipment Interface Engineering Meeting:
• Technical Manager (TM).
• Equipment PSL(s).
• Process Department (PPL and lead of PPS team for the relevant project).
• Piping / Lay-out.
• Instrumentation.
• Electrical if required or partially.
• Procurement, if required.
Minutes of meeting are issued by Equipment PSL and distributed to each meeting participant
(copy to Heads of Department).
This document is the property of the Company who will safeguard its rights according to the civil and penal provisions of the law.
PPL shall also make sure that the information, remarks, comments indicated on process data
sheet are clearly and fully understood by Equipment PSL(s) so that Equipment can use this
information as his own during contacts with vendors.
Should Equipment engineer transfer process information from process data sheet to a
mechanical document (e.g.: mechanical data sheet), then Equipment engineer takes full
responsibility of this transfer without further checking by Process or PPL.
At any time during the project, PPL shall remain available for any further clarification of the
Process specification.
Although all contacts between Saipem s.a. and vendors shall always go through Equipment,
Process may directly contact vendors at preliminary stage (for conceptual studies, feasibility,
FEED activities, etc...). Coordination with Equipment PSL is always recommended.
For this equipment, an organisation similar to the one developed for critical packages shall be
considered between Process and Equipment disciplines, that is to say:
• Process to issue a precise process data sheet.
• Equipment to transmit to Process the vendor information for process analysis.
• Process to support Equipment during Technical Bid Evaluation establishment and to give
technical advice, during vendor selection.
• Process to be available at request during meetings with vendor for any process issue.
