ACTIVITY 1 Dimensional Analysis

1. 1.5 meters | 154.4 centimeters 1. 2.1 kg/week
2. 45.5 kilograms | 100.3 pounds 2. 1.93 x 104 kg/m3
3. 5hours | 300 minutes 3. 6.710992357 x 108 mi/h
Solution:
ACTIVITY 2
1. Student A obtained the most accurate measure due to the use of the correct equipment for measuring the
mass and volume of a steel.
2. Student A and B both obtained precise measurements since Student A utilized the right equipment to
determine the mass and volume of unknown steel. However, Student B, despite using a dissimilar weighing
tool to measure the mass and read the upper meniscus due to the pull of liquid towards the container, gains
results that are near to each other.
3. Student B have used incorrect weighing instrument and read the volume in the graduated cylinder's upper
meniscus. Student C utilized the correct instrument to collect mass, however the device was shaking during
the first attempt, resulting in a significantly below-average result.
4. The very first error is through the use of a spring weighing device rather than an analytical balance. The
second error is incorrect value measurement/reading from the graduated cylinder. Systematic errors can be
prevented if the underlying reasons are identified. As a result of these sorts of mistakes, measured values
are usually too high or too low.
5. The shaking of the analytical balance during Student C's first try of weighing the steel was the random
error that he faced. Random errors are natural errors that are unpredictable, making them difficult to avoid
even replicating the experiment again.
6. To reduce the risks of the far answers in experiments, utilize suitable equipment and procedures for
systematic errors. And, while random errors are difficult to eliminate, we may run numerous trials to ensure
that the solution is right.

ACTIVITY 3
A. The magnitude of the vector, which is a positive scalar, is represented by its length. A vector's direction
on a plane is specified by the angle it makes with a reference direction, which is usually an angle with the
horizontal. A vector's direction angle is a scalar.
B.
a. dt = d1 + d2; dt = 30m + 10m = 40 m
b. dR = (d1) + (-d2) = (30m) + (-10m) = 20 m

ACTIVITY 4
STEP 1:
▪ d1 = 10 km, 45° NE
▪ d2 = 20 km, 90° S
▪ d3 = 30 km, 0° W

STEP 2:
Vectors x-component y-component
Vx = V cos θ Vy = V sin θ
d1 +7.07 +7.07
d2 0 -20
d3 -30 0

STEP 3:
∑Vx = d1x + d2x + d3x = (+7.07) + (0) + (-30) = -22.93
∑Vy = d1y + d2y + d3y = (+7.07) + (-20) + (0) = -42.93

STEP 4:
A. Magnitude
VR = √(-22.93)2 + (-42.93)2
= 48.67 km
B. Direction
tan θ = -22.93/-48.67 = 0.47
θ = tan-1 (-22.93/-42.93) = 28.11 °
VR = 48.67 km, 28.11 °
The displacement or the shortest path to get the TREASURE!

REMEMBER:
A. CONVERSION OF UNITS
1. It is useful because it maintains the units similar, making it easy to convert on each unit.
2. Knowing the equivalents of one measurement to another can enable others determine the accurate
quantity you have, help in the solution of mathematical problems such as physics, and reveal which system
of measurement the individual prefers.
B. ACCURACY AND PRECISION
1. When we utilize the correct equipment and there is no error throughout the trials, the measurement will
be both accurate and precise.
2. To reduce the risks of the far answers in experiments, employ suitable equipment and procedures for
systematic errors. And, while random errors are difficult to eliminate, we may run numerous trials to ensure
that the solution is right.
C. SCALAR AND VECTOR AND VECTOR ADDITION
1. The use of magnitude alone can fully describe scalar values. Only magnitude and direction can be used
to define vector quantities.
2. We just need to add the various vectors to each other using vector component methods to get the
resulting vector.
