CAMOTE ROLLS RECIPE

INGREDIENTS 

Sweet Potato
       it is a common ingredient that can be seen everywhere. it cost cheap but it
contains nutritional elements. it can be a substitute of rice. 

Jackfruit
    contains many vitamins and minerals, and offer numerous healthy benefits.

Cheese, Dessicated Coconut, Condensed Milk and Choco Syrup


          these ingredients are available in every grocery stores, these ingredients will add
flavors to your product.
Lumpia Wrapper
         we know that lumpia wrapper were commonly used especially in wrapping turon.

PROCEDURES

Step 1: Prepare all the ingredients

Step 2: Wash the 5 kg. sweet potato.


Step 3: Boil the sweet potato until it is cooked for 45 minutes.

Step 4: While waiting for the sweet potato to be cooked, strip the 1/2 kg. jack
fruit horizontally into smaller pieces.

Step 5: After the sweet potato was cooked, remove it to the casserole then peel it.

Step 6: After peeling all the sweet potato, mashed it and combine it with 1 can condense
milk and 1 big pack of cheese in one container.
Step 7: Mix it thoroughly.

Step 8: Place a spoonful of cam roll mixture on a lumpia wrapper, and add langka strip on
top and wrap it together.

Step 9: Dip fry until it turn into golden brown.


Step 10: Roll the fried camroll on the desiccated cocount.

Step 11: Pour some amount of choco syrup on the fried cam roll.

Kamote Turon or Lumpiang Kamote (fried
sweet potato roll) is a famous and easy to
prepare Filipino dessert (panghimagas) or snack
(merienda).  
Kamote (sweet potato) is abundant in our place.  They grow anywhere even if you don’t tend
them. I plant sweet potatoes with the help my my grandmother.   My grandmother has a green
thumb she easily grows fruits and veggies.

When we were younger my cousins and I would help my grandmother plant and harvest sweet
potato.   We made some of them into  Kamote Turon or Lumpiang Kamote. There are different
versions of how to make Kamote Turon but for me this is the best recipe.

Ingredients:

1 kg. sweet potatoes

¼ kg. langka (jackfruit) fresh or preserved available at Asian Marke

1 pack cheese any kind of cheese will do

1 pack desiccated coconut

1 can condensed milk


¼  cup chocolate  syrup

1 pack (roll) lumpia wrappers

Directions:

Wash the sweet potatoes then boil for 40-50 minutes or until its tender; set aside to cool.

While waiting for the sweet potato to be cooked, slice the jack fruit horizontally into smaller
pieces.

Peel cooked sweet potato.

Mash the sweet potatoes using fork or masher.

Add the condense milk and the cheese to the mashed sweet potato and mix  thoroughly.

Place a spoonful of sweet potato mixture on a lumpia wrapper and add langka strip on top and
roll like an eggroll.

Deep fry until it turn into golden brown.

Roll the fried sweet potato roll in desiccated cocount.

Drizzle rolls with chocolate syrup.

Serve with hot or cold drinks.

Recipe Notes
Do not over cook the lumpia get it done when its golden brown cause if you over cook it, the whole
thing would be bitter.

Selection and storage

of sweet potato lovers. In the markets, buy fresh tubers with intact smooth skin and firm consistency.
Go for organic varieties for best taste and nutrition levels.

Avoid soft, flabby, or wilted roots. Also, avoid those sound woody in texture as they tend to be
excess in fiber and unappetizing. As in potatoes, sprouting would make them lose flavor and less
desirable.

Wash them in clean running water to remove sand and soil. They should be stored in a cool, dark,
and well-ventilated place.

Preparation and serving methods


To prepare, wash the root in cold water. It can be eaten raw with skin. However, for baking
preparations, its skin may be peeled off before or after cooked.

 Fresh sweet potatoes can be eaten raw.

 Baking in water with a pinch of salt would give rich taste to them. Peel the skin before eating.
 Camote, sweet potato known as in the Latin world, is used extensively in the Mexican
cuisine.

 Camote cue, wherein the sweet potato chops deep-fried and caramelized with brown sugar,
is a popular street food in the Philippines.

 Its sweet flesh is used in the preparation of soups, curries, stews, and in confectionary to
make cakes, pie...etc.

 The tuber also used to prepare different kinds of baby foods.

 Sweet potato chips are enjoyed as favorite snacks.

Safety profile
Sweet potatoes contain oxalic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in some vegetables that
may crystallize as oxalate stones in the urinary tract in some people.

It is, therefore, individuals with known history of oxalate urinary tract stones may have to avoid
eating them. Adequate intake of water is, therefore, advised to maintain normal urine output in these
individuals to minimize stone risk.

            Our innovative product aims to target the student market. Due to its affordability, the
students can easily purchase this product. Because it’s packed with nutrients, it suits to provide
the needed strength and endurance of the students throughout the day especially the elementary
and high school students because they are more on school activities. That’s why they need to
intake foods that are not just delicious but also energy-giving food. And this camote roll qualifies
for the supplication of this need that will help them boost their physical and mental capabilities
all day long.

Product

            According to Kotler (2008), a product is anything that is offered to a market for attention,
acquisition, use or consumption and that might satisfy a need or want. To William Stanton
(1991), a product is a set of tangible and intangible attributes, including packaging, colour, price,
quality and brand, plus the seller’s services and reputation.
Camote roll is an innovative product that is a combination of the existing products camote cue
and turon. It is made of mashed sweet potato, condense milk, grated cheese and jackfruit. We
name it “Camote Roll” since it is rolled in the lumpia wrapper after frying it. To add the
abundance of the taste and aroma, we simmer it with choco syrup and desiccated coconut.

These are the vitamins and minerals that the primary ingredients contain. Among some of the
vitamins contained within sweet potatoes other that vitamin A and vitamin C, you'll find iron,
copper, manganese, vitamin E, vitamin B6. Sweet potatoes also contain beta carotene which the
body can convert into vitamin A. Cheese is an excellent dietary source of calcium, phosphorus,
zinc  and protein as well as vitamins A and B12. Most cheeses provide good amounts
of phosphorus and although the content varies between different varieties. Jackfruit is one of its
own kind tropical fruits, recognized for its fruity flavor that can be appreciated from a distance.
The fruit is unique for its size and delicious sweet taste. In common with other tropical fruits
such as durian, banana, etc., it is also rich in energy, dietary fiber, minerals, and vitamins and
free from saturated fats or cholesterol, making it one of the healthy summer seasons treated to

Price 

            Price is defined as the amount of money a buyer pays to a seller in exchange for products
and services. It reflects the economic sacrifice a buyer must make to acquire something. 

The total cost of expenditures is P521.13 which is the initial investment of the venture. it is the
total amount from purchasing the ingredients and other needed materials which are sweet potato,
jackfruit, choco syrup, desiccated coconut, cooking oil, condense milk, cheese and lumpia
wrapper. From the total cost of expenditures, we base our price. Since we produced 320 pieces,
we only price it P3.00. We can get a total P960.00 sales and P438.87 net income. This net
income is 84.22% of the product’s initial investment.

We base our pricing strategy using the costs plus pricing approach which is the simplest pricing
method. This approach is used by simply adding a standard markup to the cost. We associate it
with the venture’s investment, production, distribution, and marketing and sales expenses such as
promoting a product or service.

Place

            Place is the third component of the marketing mix. This component is also called
distribution. Distribution refers to the process of making a product available for the consumption
or use of the consumer or business user. 

            “Camote roll” is sold inside the campuses to cater the student industry. This is to ensure
the convenience and accessibility for the customers. From the elementary up to college campuses
will be our target area and premises.

Promotion
            To enhance market awareness, we apply personal selling as our tool in promoting our
product. We approach prospect customers and inform them about the highlight of the product.
We persuade them until they decide to purchase the product. This strategy is very effective
because the product is not yet known to the market and to assure the market acceptance of this.

Competitive Advantage

            Camote roll has many competitive advantages over other. First is its affordability. In
marketing, price promotion is one of the most applied strategies of businesses to develop their
own competitive edge against its competing products. That’s why it’s one of the major factors
that help this product to gain its own market share upon introduction. The other advantage is its
benefits and the values that it returns to the customers because of the richness of the nutrients
that the ingredients contain. It also adopt on the present need of the Filipinos when it comes to
food. Because of its common nature which is a type of kakanin, it is more enticing than other
products.

About the product

CAMOTE ROLL (CAMROLL)


The innovative product is derived from the original type of “kakanin” or native food in the
Philippines which is the “Camote Cue” and “Turon. This products are very famous among
common Filipino households since it’s one of their usual “merienda” or snacks at home. This are
very nutritious and delicious as well. It is sold in different corners of the busy street in the
Philippines.

Primarily, this “Camote Cue” is cooked through frying the sweet potato in the cooking oil and
mixing it with sugar. The sweet potato will be sliced into pieces and dip into the heated cooking
oil and mixed with sugar. Stir thoroughly until it turned into golden brown. Then lastly, the
recipe will be prepared though stringing together in the bamboo stick.

The “Turon” recipe is not new already to common Filipino citizen. It is one of the known types
of “kakanin” found along the corners of the street. This main ingredient is the banana. The
banana is sliced vertically and rolled in the lumpia wrapper. This rolled banana is soaked in the
heated cooking oil and mix with sugar as well.

The innovative product is made up of mashed sweet potato, jackfruit and cheese then wrapped in
a lumpia wrapper. To enrich the flavour, choco syrup is simmered as toppings. Its primary
ingredient is the sweet potato which is a kind of root crop that is very rich in nutrients that are
very good and essential for the body of a person. These ingredients especially the jackfruit adds
on the aroma and richness of the flavour of the food. The condensed milk serves adds the
sweetness of the sweet potato.

One of the most nutritious foods on the traditional Thanksgiving menu is the sweet potato. These
orange-skinned root vegetables offer a host of health benefits. That’s why we choose to have this
as the major ingredient because of the vitamins and minerals that it contains. This sweet potato is
one of the most recommended root crops of the specialists for this reason.
