Lesson Plan

Recombinant DNA/Grade 12 B Biology

18th January 2019
A. Lesson Objectives
At the end of the discussion, the students are able to:
1. Know the recombinant DNA
2. Explain the process of recombinant DNA
3. Explain the process DNA cloning, make insulin
4. Know application of DNA technologies
5. Know the sanvatage and disadvantage of recombinant DNA
B. Learning Content
1. Topic Recombinant DNA
2. Resources Chalkboard, video, powerpoint, TV, chalk,
3. Methodology Student Center
4. Concepts a. Recombinant DNA
b. The process cloning DNA
c. Application of DNA technology
5. Skill Explain recombinant DNA
6. References - Solomon, Eldra P. Etc. General Biology
- Starr, Evers. Biology : Concepts and
Applications 9e

C. Learning Procedure
1. Apperception/Motivation
- Teacher shows a picture about plant that already using recombinant DNA and
not, next teacher asks the students their insight for the topic that will be
discussed.

2. Lesson Proper
- Teacher introduces recombinat DNA
3. Teacher explain the process of recombinant DNA by power point and also the
sanvatage and disadvantage of recombinant DNA
- Teacher explain the process of cloning DNA by video ex: how to make a dog
with clone, how make insulin
- Teacher give a game “let’s ask” to the student. Teacher divided the student be
two big group. The group have to make 10 questions about recombinant DNA in
note paper that teacher give. The teacher read the questions that students make
and another group have to answer.
- Teacher give a quiz about recombinant DNA
4. Generalization
Ask some students to summarize the lesson
