How to Properly Study for a Beta MS Speed Drill

The most successful results on the Speed Drill can be achieved through properly studying for it.

Just saying one part aloud and then stating the answer method of studying is known as drill and kill,
and it does not work because the relationship is missing. This is not how we teach our scholars to
memorize material because it is not effective.

The most effective studying method has been explained to the MS scholar and is explained below to
assist you in best monitoring and maximizing your scholar's studying time.

Think 'Total Brain Learning' (Whole Brain), which includes the brain, eyes, ears, mouth and hands.

Talking aloud to himself or herself, the scholar writes down an element and states the relationship,
and then the answer--- again, while stating all the information aloud so that he or she can hear
themselves (aloud is not whispering or yelling; you should clearly hear what is your scholar is saying).

The eyes are working while the hands are writing, the mouth is speaking while the ears hear. This
method requires the whole brain to be fully engaged.

Example 1: The scholars speak his or her way through this…

What you should hear:

Six to the third power (or six cubed) equals six times six times six which equals two hundred sixteen.

What you should see:

6³ = 6 ⋅ 6 ⋅ 6 which = 216
Example 2: The scholars speak his or her way through this…

What you should hear:

The square root of two hundred fifty-six equals 16 because sixteen times sixteen (16 squared) is 256.

What you should see:

√256 = 16 because 16 ⋅16 (162) = 256
