What is CLAT?

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level exam conducted by the consortium
for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law courses offered by the 22
participating NLUs. In addition, there are 61 other private affiliate colleges that accept CLAT
exam scores. Some public organisations such as ONGC and BHEL also use CLAT-PG scores
for recruitment. Every year, over 60,000 candidates appear for CLAT exam. In 2021, total
70,277 candidates registered out of wh 62,106 appeared for the exam.

CLAT Eligibility 2022


The eligibility criteria for admission to 5-year LLB and LLM courses offered by the participating
NLUs are released by the consortium on its official website. These criteria pertain to  parameters
like academic qualification, minimum marks, age limit, etc. Note that the affiliate colleges may
have additional requirements to the ones mentioned here; so you need to visit the website of the
concerned university to get the latest information.
The eligibility criteria of CLAT 2022 mentioned below apply for admission to the NLUs.  
Eligibility for UG courses:
 Candidates should complete Class 12 or equivalent examination from national or
state board of education
 Candidates should obtain minimum 45 per cent aggregate if belonging to
General/Other Backward Class (OBC)/Specially-abled category and 40 per cent
aggregate if belonging to Scheduled Class (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST) category
 There is no upper age limit to apply for CLAT 2022 as the Bar Council of India
(BCI) has removed the upper or lower age limit criteria for admissions to law
courses
Eligibility for PG courses:
 Candidates should obtain an LLB degree from a recognised university
 Candidates should obtain minimum 50 per cent aggregate if belonging to
General/OBC/Specially-abled category and 45 per cent aggregate if belonging to
SC/ST category
 There is no upper age limit to apply for CLAT
 

CLAT 2022 Registration


The NLU Consortium will start the CLAT 2022 application process tentatively in
November/December 2021. Candidates can apply online for CLAT 2022 on the official website of
the exam in four steps - registration, application, document uploading and payment of application
fee. Check out quick steps to fill the CLAT application form 2022 below:
 Visit the official website of the exam - https://consortiumofnlus.ac.in
 Click on the Register button
 Fill and submit the CLAT registration form 2022
 Once registered, enter mobile number and OTP on the displayed window to
activate the account
 Login to the registered account using mobile number and password
 Click on the Apply button and fill the CLAT application form
 Preview the filled-in online form and click on the Submit button to submit the form
 Upload scanned photo, signature and category certificate (if applicable) as per the
prescribed specifications
 Pay CLAT application fee in online (debit card/credit card/internet banking) or
offline (bank challan) mode

CLAT Syllabus 2022


The CLAT 2022 syllabus includes important topics and subjects from which questions are asked
in the exam. In CLAT (UG), questions are asked typically from five subjects -  English Language,
Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Current Affairs including General Knowledge and
Quantitative Techniques.  
In CLAT LLM, questions are asked from Law subjects such as Constitutional Law, Contract,
Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, IPR and Jurisprudence and more. Check complete CLAT

CLAT Exam Analysis


CLAT 2022 exam is yet to be held. The difficulty level of CLAT 2021 exam was moderate.
However, time management was a major issue for most of the candidates as the paper was
