2. There are many reasons that led to the decline in the Tamaraw’s population. The animal
is traditionally hunted for food by the indigenous Mangyan people. Another is habitat
loss. They were forced to move further inland into the dense forest because of habitat
destruction. Because results show that Tamaraw is progressively disappearing from all
areas where it was still reported, then there is a need to save the Tamaraws.
What is the text all about?
A. Indigenous Mangyan people need Tamaraw for food.
B. Habitat loss is the main reason why Tamaraw’s are disappearing.
C. Tamaraw’s should be saved because they are becoming

3. One of the most pressing issues in Mindoro today is the continuous decrease in
Tamaraw population over the decades, from an estimated 10,000 heads in the early
1900s to about 100 heads recorded in the late 1960s, as reported by the Department
of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 4-B (MIMAROPA). To solve this, the
Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) is advocating more efforts to save
Tamaraw from extinction. One solution is to refrain from hunting Tamaraws.
Another way is to stop destroying their habitats. Recommendations also include the
celebration of Special Month for Tamaraw to help promote the conservation of this
species.

5. Suppose you are to invite your relatives abroad to visit your province. Which of the
following informational text will you use to convince them?

A. MIMAROPA is known for its breathtaking coves and landscapes. For this reason,
many tourists flock to its provinces to explore its beauty. Its white sand beaches and
rich marine biodiversity give way to various activities such as scuba diving, island
hopping, snorkeling, and trekking. Tourists can also swim with the fish and see the
world’s second largest coral reef system up close. They can also explore the insides of
different caves in Marinduque. Aside from these, the more than a hundred marine
species in Looc Bay Marine Sanctuary provide a unique experience for visitors. As a
result, the region’s tourism industry has steadily grown since 2010.

urban infrastructure, ecosystems improvement and enterprise development.

C. Fifty years ago, MIMAROPA was one of the poorest regions in the country. Today, it is one
of the fastest, if not the fastest, growing region in the country, largely due to the increase in
output of its domestic industries and cross-border migration. Fishing, agriculture, tourism,
mining and oil-production output of natural gas in Palawan, for instance, have caused the
region’s increased economic importance on the national scale.
