ACTIVITY # 12 Aspects of Gene Therapy:

Please refer to the video to answer questions 1 & 2 and describe your answers in
not more than 5 sentences.

Questions:
1. Would you subject yourself for gene therapy without its 100% assurance of
effectiveness or future negative side effects? WHY? (5 pts.)
Answer: Yes, for nothing is 100% assured in medicating someone. As said, people
have different DNA so, it has variation effects to the body. Beside doctors will not
prescribe something that could harm their patients. I would rather try to cure myself
than die without trying. But before all, I will ask first the specialist doctor how my
body will react for such medication, and we will ask for approval from DOH.

2. Should gene therapy be limited to medical concerns only? Or could it be use

for aesthetic purposes? Explain. (5 pts.)
Answer: It should be limited for medical purposes only, for it is too risky. It is too
risky in a way that the medicine is not specifically design for aesthetic. As long as
DOH don’t approve something that it can be used for aesthetic then we must not. The
bad uses of gene therapy could lead detriment to society. And so, before using such
medication should seek first to a specialist.
3. Concept Mapping: Using a Venn diagram, differentiate the 2 forms of gene
therapy. (10 pts.)
