WHAT'S INSIDE NORTHWEST BERRY FOUNDATION
INDUSTRY RESOURCES
The industry is getting into the swing of research needs and reviews this month.
Some great interaction is happening both virtually and in person so I encourage you
GROWER RESOURCES
to sign up to attend any of the remaining meetings (see our calendar for details).
INDUSTRY NEWS
One discussion that happened during the WRRC review revolved around the need
for a holistic approach to SWD management. This is a complex topic and one
PEST MANAGEMENT
suggested strategy was to look at planning before acting on this goal. SWD
Integrated Pest Management is a long term, universal need across all berry crops.
SFU SPONSORS
Pacific Northwest industry and researchers are encouraged to listen/chime in on
the first work group meeting revolving around this topic which is scheduled for
Monday Oct. 25th at 11am via zoom. Discussions will revolve around how to work
with MRL restrictions, zero tolerance for higher grade produce, and integrating in
other tools in the SWD management toolbox without relaxing industry standards.
Industry input and direction is key, no matter how 'out of the box' it may be.

Regional Monitoring
REGIONAL MONITORING
Welcome to this special edition of the Agragene Regional SWD Report! It is special, because this officially
marks the 1-year anniversary of this report and that means a lot of great things. Primarily, from now on, we
have a base set of data from exactly one year ago which the data we are currently collecting can be compared
to. Since we know what that data from one year ago meant on a field-based level, we can now make much
better inferences on what to expect based on the current data set. As we go through additional years, this will
only amplify the frame of reference we have, which will allow us to set expectations on SWD pressure and
adjust management programs appropriately.
