Learning Feedback

On our entire duty in Callang General Hospital, we had an amazing experience

because we’ve learned and discovered lots of procedures and vital interventions that that
will hasten more our abilities in critical thinking and handling our patients right with an
appropriate nursing care. All of the learnings we experienced in the medical field for
almost one month will give as a great epitome that will surely help us in being a
responsible student nurse at present and Registered Nurse in the future.

In addition:

m
er as
 We had improved my skills in taking vital signs properly.

co
 We learned that one of the most important in performing duty is to always have

eH w
the spirit of time management and dedication to service.

o.
rs e
 We had able to discover the different terms in medicine that are very new to us.
ou urc
We learned it's uses and importance.
 We learned that it's not easy to deal with the patients especially when they have
o
aC s

individual differences according to their attitude. Some patients are moody, the
vi y re

others are kind.

 We learned that before leaving the hospital, make sure all the things are done
ed d

appropriately and completely.

ar stu

 We encountered different surgical instrument and able to know the name and uses.
 We improved our skills on the proper way of charting.
is

 We encountered different Patients and their Significant Others.

Th

 We learned that we need to give health teaching in our clients not just getting their
vital signs so that they can improve their healthy lifestyle.
sh

 We encountered different Doctors with various specialization.

 We need to face our fears and be strong whatever happens.
 We observed the actual endorsement of nurses.

 We observed the proper administration of medicines.
 We learned the different parts of the patients chart.

 We learned how to infuse a blood properly and check first it’s label so there will
be no complications in blood transfusion.
 We learned what are the possible effects of blood transfusion if the blood is not
appropriate to the patient.
 We had able to collect accurate data in order for us to formulate a well detailed
case study.
 We learned from every single nurse’s experience by accumulating insights to them

m
er as
about their previous experiences.

co
 We absolutely learned how important is to have a well composed character and

eH w
o.
wearing a complete uniform always.
rs e
 We may have a hard time in walking around the corridors but it was a great
ou urc
experience because we mold ourselves in the real set up of our future field.
o

 We learned the difference between sterile and unsterile.

aC s
vi y re

 We learned to establish good relationship to the patient.

 We learned more to handling MGH patient.
 We learned to improve individual confidence in handling and interacting different
ed d
ar stu

patients with various cases.

 It was also a good experience to deal with the patients and be able to
is

communicate and have a conversation with them. It was at these times that we
Th

honed our communication skills to deal and answer orally their questions, queries
and some health problems though it was sometimes unexplainable but through our
sh

Clinical Instructor’s insights we had able to answer their questions confidently

with facts we learned during our discussions in the ward.
 Dealing with various kinds of people was then a very challenging task. We
learned to become more patient especially when handling sensitive patients. We

have to extend our understanding because we knew that their situation was not as
easy as it seemed.
 We learned to measure the level of IV fluid properly.
 We learned to regulate IV fluid.
 Being a student nurse, doing right and appropriate things with our patients brings
a guiding light that keeps us on the right track.
 We need to love what we are doing to become a responsible and well-mannered
Registered Nurse soon, so that we may serve and apply in in doing service.
 Just go with the flow. We learned to cooperate with our groupmates even though

m
we are not close at first and we have different personalities.

er as
 We observed how the nurses handle their patient one by one even they if they are

co
eH w
already tired and toxic to the environment it is their responsibility to serve their

o.
patients.
rs e
ou urc
 We learned that we don't need to stress ourselves. Even though we have a lot of
paper works and enough sleep is a problem we must take it as a challenge because
o

we will get used to it and overcome it as we get along.

aC s
vi y re

 So as a group we must prove that we can show our abilities and skills to serve
what we had learned.
ed d

 "Patience is a virtue." Being a student nurse we need a lot of patience in our

ar stu

clients always even if they are sometimes "masungit" because they are sick we
need to accept and understand it.
is

 "On time but not late." Time cannot adjust with us. So we are the one to adjust
Th

and change our morning routine especially waking up early as much as possible
in the morning to avoid late, demerit and work it all out on our make up duties.
sh

 "No man is an island." As a group we need teamwork and unity to finish our
requirements. If you don't know one thing just ask some help from your group.

 We realized that before going to duty, we must have a well planned and practiced

skills and knowledge. We must be ready at all times. Every minute is important
because as a future nurse each patient's life is our top priority. Seeing a person's
life in danger is very hard on our part not only because it is our duty and
responsibility but we should also consider each one of them as our family.
 We learned to assess the condition of our patient’s properly.
 We learned to make nurse note in which every nurse must document all the
nursing care that is delivered to the patient. Because a work undocumented is a
work undone.
 On our last day of duty, we had able to observe and encounter caeserian section

m
delivery and appendectomy. While we we’re inside the Operating Room we

er as
co
realized that it is very important to become alert and more careful in assisting the

eH w
doctor. Through such observations and experiences of we felt that committing

o.
rs e
even one mistake should be avoided. And practicing adequate accuracy and focus
ou urc
is a must because every detail in the procedure is extremely hard.
 We observed that being a Clinical Instructor is not easy because it is his obligation
o
aC s

to guide us in our duties. Our duty is full of chismisan (bonding session). We are
vi y re

lucky that our CI is cool and brilliant. He shared his experiences and
accomplishments to inspire us. He removes away our fears and negative thoughts
ed d

towards handling patient’s in the hospital. He also serves as our BOOK because
ar stu

he knows everything about the diseases and he is not selfish to teach us.
 All we can say is with all of our experiences on our duties together we are glad
is

and thankful about the outcome because our clinical instructor made us feel it was
Th

not hard to be a student nurse as long as you enjoy what you are doing and not
counting all the hardships you’ve crossed. Because at the end of the day you will
sh

all use these trainings, achievements and mistakes to become a well equipped
nurse someday.
