Ever since I was a kid, photography has been my go-to

hobby, and have dreamt of becoming one. I actually thought

that it would be one of the careers I will be taking when I
grow up, seizing every memory and engraving it through
photos forever. Photojournalism was in fact the first category
I joined in journalism and so it is really close to my heart.
However, with time the eagerness and passion subsides and
it eventually just became a pastime.

Eyes are the window to our soul. Being able to capture raw
scenes, emotions, and moments is what matters the most as it allows me to have an
entirely new perspective on everyday life. It permits me to develop and keep lasting and
sweet memories that can last a lifetime. A photo can simply capture a precious moment of
one’s life and make that moment last forever in the minds of people. Images live as a visual
document of significant moments in someone’s life. It is with these pictures that people get
to revive the bygone moments and re-create those that truly matter, to look back and enjoy
for years.

It is a language, which uses visual elements in lieu of words, therefore, just as any
language, it can be used for artistic purposes. Photography exploits vulnerabilities of the
human visual perception and can make us experience emotions that move us and compel
us to do things that we otherwise would not even think of.

For that reason, if I were given a chance to be an artist, I would definitely be a

photographer and express myself through it. Turning almost anything I find beautiful into a
work of art. Leading me to feel a sense of tranquility and peace.

Photography does have a massive art field that you can explore every day but still
learns new things each time. Hence, if I were really given the opportunity, I’d choose
documentary photography. Although it is a style of photography that provides a
straightforward and accurate representation of people, places, objects, and events, and is
often used in reportage. It conveys a deeper meaning and brings to light some otherwise
hidden reality or injustice. It opens a raw and pure view of what life is, unedited and
personal.
