The journal article entitled Entrepreneurial Learning In Arts Entrepreneurship Education:

A Conceptual Framework written by Ben Tosher focused and explored the need for
entrepreneurial competencies and how entrepreneurship education is relevant to the career of
musicians by proposing a conceptual framework to explain the relevance of arts entrepreneurship
education to execute the entrepreneurial learning of the students. This paper will first talk about
how the relevance of entrepreneurship in music education was explained by the author then
proceeds on the introduction of concepts of entrepreneurial competencies and entrepreneurial
learning that provide a basic framework for the types of learning outcomes possible through
entrepreneurial learning activities. Lastly, this paper will talk about Tosher’s proposed conceptual
framework for entrepreneurial learning activities in arts entrepreneurship education. Overall, the
article is a great read for it provided a comprehensive explanation of the created framework by
integrating context-specific entrepreneurial learning activities within arts entrepreneurship
education.

In the first part of the paper, the author discussed the two categories of entrepreneurship
education which are the new venture creation approach and the transitioning approach. It was
explained thoroughly and with real-life examples which made it easier to understand especially
for me who is not really familiar with terms and concepts related to entrepreneurship. Also, since
the article is composed of other related studies, it is good that the author made his article different
from other studies. The study specifically focused on the musician's career and integrating how
arts entrepreneurship is important on how they are educated. It is nice how the author contributed
new knowledge to various fields since I personally believe that studies and research papers must
contribute new knowledge that is beneficial to the community, fields, or other groups (Davis, 2021)
in order for it to have value.

Next, I would like to point out how the paper tackled entrepreneurial learning and
entrepreneurial competencies because it was defined and discussed in the latter part of the paper.
I believe that it would have been better if it was defined or explained by the author in the first part
of the paper to avoid confusion to readers because even I honestly had a hard time understanding
the concept and the difference between entrepreneurial learning and entrepreneurial
competencies since the first part of the paper put its focus on explaining a musician’s career and
the conflicts between entrepreneurship and artist.
Lastly, the author’s proposed framework for understanding how entrepreneurial learning
activities could help in inculcating entrepreneurship education to art students provided a great
exposition by listing how context-specific, students become the center of learning, enabling
student agency and encouraging explorative behavior, career relevance, and the reframing of
entrepreneurship (Tosher, 2019) will shape art entrepreneurship education. One of the many
learnings I get from this study is the importance of letting students practice explorative behavior.
I get to realize the value of being explorative since it leads to new possibilities that contribute to a
student's growth and independence.

In conclusion, the paper contributes greatly to educators and most importantly to students.
I also think that the proposed conceptual framework can also be applied and beneficial to other
art courses since entrepreneurship is also being taught across different majors. I believe that
studies related to the method of art entrepreneurship education should be available to different
courses to educate people on how it differs from entrepreneurship since people commonly
associate entrepreneurship with its ideal meaning: a profit motive and an overwhelming
commercial narrative (Tosher, 2019).
