In your own words, discuss the difference between strategic action and communicative action?

Give examples. Discuss in not less than 100 words.

Strategic action is objective-rational action directed towards other individuals from a

utilitarian point of view, e.g. the calculative exploitation of others. In other words, the actor

behaving strategically is first and foremost seeking to accomplish his own ends. Communicative

action, on the other hand, is geared towards the shared settlement of disputes by agreement.

The main goal here is not to achieve their own success, but to harmonize their action plans with

the other participants. This effort to establish consensus is focused on the inter-subjective

m
acceptance of criticizable validity statements. Communicative action is also the opposite of

er as
co
strategic action. In this understanding, strategic action can actually be more forward-looking

than communicative thinking, which may be more focused on the present situation.
