1. What are the impacts of science and technology on human life?

Answer:

Science and technology has improved many aspects of our human life, such as
making information more accessible and making transportation easy. While it is
irresistible to just relax and enjoy the benefits of science and technology
breakthroughs, it is important that we do not depend on them fully because if
they are gone then we won’t be able to know what we are going to do. Also, we
should not lose sight of their societal implications.

2. What societal problems do science and technology address or respond to?

Answer:

The societal problems that science and technology address or respond to are the
problem of humanity’s daily uses and the cure for illness with the use of highly
sophisticated devices and machines. Some examples of inventions that saved us a
lot of time are artificial lightings, washing machines, e-cars, dishwasher, and solar
powered devices.

1. List down at least five Filipino Inventors that you know that made a great
impact in our society from the past up to the present.

Answer:

The five inventions that I know that made a great impact in our society from the
past up to the present are Victor Llave who invented the “Salamander amphibious
tricycle”, Engr. Aisa Mijeno who invented the “Salt lamp” , Dr. Fe Del Mundo
who invented the “Medical incubator” , Dado Banatao who invented the key chips
that are used in most of computers today, and lastly Angel C. Alcala who invented
the artificial coral reefs used for fisheries in Southeast Asia.

2. How these inventions can affect your life?

Answer:

These inventions affected my life by making transportation and communication


fast and less time consuming. Basically, it makes our life easier, and also helps to
conserve the environment.

3. Discuss science-relates issues and problems in the country.

Answer:

The science related issues and problems in the Philippines are air and water
pollution. It is the most common problem in the Philippines since there are lots of
factory that emits smoke which contains dangerous gases in the air and also cars,
jeepneys, tricycles, and motorcycles that also emits gas that gets stuck in the
atmosphere causing smog and is also the reason for heating of the earth. And in
the case of water pollution, it is slowly being solved by the government since they
are conducting a clean up drive in ponds, rivers, and lakes. One example for water
pollution is the Pasig river which is the most polluted river in the Philippines
because people are throwing their waste their instead of throwing it in the proper
garbage sites.

4. Identify science and technology policies that could be adapted or


implemented in the Philippines.

Answer:
The science and technology policies that could be adapted or implemented in the
Philippines is the “Improving environmental quality” because one of the problems
in the Philippines is poverty and if we implement on improving the environmental
quality we might have a solution to end poverty and to have an equal living.

Answer:

The impact of developments in science and technology on the lives of Filipinos is that it made
our method of transportation fast, it made our communication easy, and also generated changes
in the moral values of many Filipinos. In medicine, it helped a lot of Filipinos because of the
sophisticated medicines that can be used to cure sickness faster, advanced machineries and
devices that can be used to identify unknown diseases, and technologies that help doctors to save
lots of human lives. Lastly, in trends, by the use of the internet and trends nowadays people can
make money with the use of technology. Using the internet to sell/buy products without going
out of the house, applying jobs online without physical contact, and last but not the least is that
you can easily contact your family, peers, friends, and relatives around the world without any
effort. That is what the impacts of trends, development in science, and medicine on the lives of
Filipinos.

Answer:

The government policies and programs that are available for science education in the Philippines
are Republic Act No. 2067 that says that “An act to integrate, coordinate, and intensify scientific
and technological research and development and to foster invention; to provide funds therefore;
and for other purposes.”(https://lawphil.net › statutes › repacts), “S&T Scholarship under R.A.
7687 or S&T. Scholarship Act of 1994 (S&T Scholarship Program A)”, and lastly “BS
Scholarships in Science Education.”

2. Are there private schools with outstanding science education programs? Identify and
compare their science education programs with public science schools.

Answer:

Yes. Private schools have outstanding science education programs because they have a complete
equipment for the program, with fully experienced and trained teachers, and have many benefits
that a student can have. While in public science schools the equipment is somehow lacking and
some teachers don't have much knowledge and experience teaching.
