 A lyric poem expresses the thoughts and feelings of a single
speaker - the person saying the poem - to create a single, unified
impression.
 A narrative poem tells a story in verse and has all the elements of
a short story– characters, setting, conflict, and a plot.
As you read, notice the elements of lyric and narrative poetry.
The poems in this group communicate a range of emotions and
events: bitterness, betrayal, fear, courage, love, and loss.

people’s feelings and experiences.

That dost not bite so nigh,as benefits forgot.
Though thou the waters warp,
15 Thy sting is not so sharp
As friend remembered not.
