TRAFFIC FLOW

Managing traffic flow at the highest efficiency allows more traffic to flow with less

severe resource waste. It benefits the state to ensure that their roadways are as practical as

possible, as there are limited resources. In assessing the capacity of existing routes up to

designing new roads, we should constantly evaluate the traffic flow first. Thoroughly

understanding the theories behind traffic flow analysis is necessary.

In examining traffic flow, we should recognize its various elements. From the speed of a

vehicle which is described as the distance it travels per unit of time, volume, or simply the

number of cars that move in a given point, the flow, which is the rate at which vehicles cross a

given moment, density which refers to the number of vehicles present on a given length of

roadway, up to the various measures for describing the space between cars. These elements

provide knowledge about varied concepts in a traffic flow which gives us a sight of how these

elements help and how traffic flow is managed in a real-life situation.
