All you need to know from a business perspective.

Unit 1 Business ethics

You need to make sure you abide by a code of ethical conduct the following list is
a good place to start for industry wide expectations of therapists ethics. I place
particular emphasis on point 8, client confidentiality. It is vitally important that
you do not discuss your clients’ business outside of the time that you are with
them. This would be seen to be totally lacking in integrity and could have spiritual
repercussions for you.

1. Demonstrate commitment to provide the highest quality service to those who

seek their professional service

2. Conduct myself in a professional and ethical manner in relation to my clients,

so as to comply with the highest standards of moral behaviour & integrity and to
uphold the dignity and status of my profession under all circumstances.

3. Recognize that my primary obligation is always to the client and agree to

practice my therapy or business to the best of my ability for my client’s benefit.
My client’s comfort, welfare and health must always have priority.

4. Provide clients with information that includes training, certification, scope of

practice, payment structure, benefits, limitations and expectations of both the
practitioner and client on request.

5. Endeavor to serve the best interests of my clients at all times by providing

the highest quality of service and I shall undertake continued professional
development courses and improve upon my skills and professional standards
whenever possible.
6. Provide services within the scope and the limits of my training. I will not
employ techniques for which I have not had adequate training and shall represent
my education, training, qualifications and abilities honestly. I shall acknowledge
the limitations of my skills and when necessary, refer clients to the appropriate
qualified professionals.

7. Not diagnose, prescribe or provide any service, which requires a license to

practice unless specifically licensed to do.

8. Maintain client confidentiality and not divulge to anyone the findings I

acquire during consultation, or in the course of professional recommendations,
without my clients consent except when required by law.

9. Respect the rights of other healthcare professionals and will cooperate with
all health care professionals in a friendly and professional manner.

10. Practice honesty in advertising, promote my services ethically and in good

taste, and practice and or advertise only those skills for which I have received
adequate training or certification.

11. Maintain my premises in a hygienic condition, and ensure that my premises

offer my Clients sufficient privacy.

12. Maintain complete records of each Client.

13.Dress in a professional manner, proper dress being defined as the attire

suitable and consistent with accepted professional practice.

14. Refrain from engaging or entering into relationships with anyone whilst they
are your client.

Unit 2. Client Care and Communication,

It is important that you maintain a professional relationship with your client,

though they may become your friends, it is still important to maintain that
client/therapist distance. To that end we recommend that you have a phone
number dedicated solely for your business and do not give out your personal
phone number. It has not been unknown to receive phone calls from clients
wanting to tell you their stories in the middle of the night. It is important to set
the boundaries. We suggest that you give them your business phone number and
tell them they can phone it any time day or night and that they should leave a
message if the phone is switched off. Always switch your phone off during a
healing session and always when you don’t want to be disturbed at night time.

Unit 3. Insurance

It is very important to take out public liability insurance when practising for
unforeseen events and/or claims. In fact if you rent a room in a therapy practise
they require you to provide evidence of insurance before allowing you to use
their rooms. We recommend you look for insurance which provides the following
cover.
✓ Public liability

✓ Professional indemnity

✓ Product liability

✓ Libel and Slander

✓ Covers you to work anywhere in the world including from:

• Client’s property

• Rented practice room

• From your own home*

• Electronically via internet call or conference i.e. Skype

• Via the telephone

✓ Specialist legal defence where necessary to defend a claim

✓ Includes a 24 hour legal helpline for individual policy holders

Once you have successfully completed and passed your training course, you will
be eligible for a special discounted insurance rate which provides the specialism
cover you need through our very great friends at PolicyBee

You will need your certificates from both the Academy of Ancient Magik and from
the International Association of Therapists to show you are qualified for this
insurance.
Unit 4. Marketing and Business development

The best way to market, advertise yourself nowadays is on the internet, you will
find plenty of websites out there who will happily promote you, normally there is
a very small listing fee, you will of course once you have completed this course be
eligible to your free business listing on the Association of International Therapists
website.

Spiritual shops are also a great way of advertising yourself, they will take leaflets,
posters or business cards usually for free to help you grow your customer base.

Spiritual fairs are a great way of getting extra clients, you will need to book a
space, you normally get 2 chairs and a table and you will need to make your area
seem inviting, with cloths, crystal, table ornaments, maybe some flowers and you
will need to print out some leaflets or information about what you are offering.
Unit 5. Venues

There are many centres with therapy rooms for hire, these centres will be able to
promote your services for you. Some therapy centres enable you to hire a room
on a hourly basis, some expect you to commit to a regular day and time slot. Have
a look around.
Unit 6. What to charge and how to take payment

Our suggestion is that you practise doing your angelic healings on yourself for a
couple of weeks before you start advertising for clients, that way the healing will
have more of a flow to it, we suggest you print out the healing order for reference
whilst running the healing. Normally charges for this kind of work range from 40-
65 GBP, 51-75 USD. We suggest offering clients the option to pay by paypal in
advance or cash on the day. For all absentee healings payment should be made in
advance, do not be afraid to say this! There is a facility offered by paypal to get a
card reader for free that enables you to take credit card payments.
Unit 7. Tax and insurance self-employment

You will be responsible yourself for registering as a self-employed worker for tax
purposes in your own country. You do not need to open a business bank account
to do this.
