French Weather Dice Game
Tips & Tricks
➽ This French Weather Dice Game could either be played as a speaking
game, in which students ask « Quel temps fait-il ? » and respond orally with
the weather expression in each box OR as a writing/spelling game in which
students respond by writing on a mini whiteboard or sheet of paper.
➽ This game is meant to be played by two students; however, I have, in the
past, had students who requested to play in groups of three or four, and it
seemed to work out just fine! Feel free to experiment. :)
➽ You may have students cut out and use the tokens (pages 6-9), or they
can simply use different colored crayons, colored pencils, or highlighters to
mark the boxes that they have acquired.
➽ Feel free to laminate the game boards (pages 3-5) so that students can
play the game multiple times, with multiple partners, and over multiple
years! If not, print out the game board, make enough copies for your
students/classes, and you’ll be good to go!

Dice Game : « Quel temps fait-il ? »
You and your opponent will take turns rolling the dice (two dice are needed - or you can roll
one die twice). Based on the numbers you roll, find the box with the given coordinates
(horizontal and vertical) and state the correct weather expression. If you choose correctly,
place one of your tokens on that box. If you say it incorrectly, your opponent places one of
his/her tokens on the box. If you land on a box that has already been claimed, your turn ends
immediately and your partner rolls. At the end, whoever has the most tokens wins the game!
