I. Use your dictionary and translate in the brackets the following expressions of
suggestion, obligation and prohibition. (Utiliza tu diccionario para ayudarte con

SUGGESTIONS ( Sugerencias )

To express suggestions, we use SHOULD.


( Para expresar sugerencia usamos SHOULD)
1. I think that Mary should listen to what John says.

We use COULD to express a suggestion with a sense of


possibility.

OBLIGATION & STRONG RECOMMENDATION
( Obligación y recomendación fuerte )
To express an obligation, we use MUST and HAVE TO.
(Para expresar una obligación usamos MUST y HAVE
TO)

We can also express strong recommendations with


MUST and HAVE TO in conditional sentences.

MUST NOT and DO NOT HAVE TO do not have the same
meaning as their positive form.

10.We must not leave the room until the office comes
back. (prohibition)

PROHIBITION ( Prohibición )
To express a prohibition, we use MUST NOT and
CANNOT. ( Para expresar una prohibición usamos
MUST NOT y CANNOT )
12. Liza must not enter to the studio without her parents'
permission.

PERMISSION ( Permiso )
To ask or give permission, we use CAN, MAY, COULD
and MIGHT. ( Para pedir o dar permiso usamos CAN,
