CONTENT: Ecosystem
CONTENT STANDARD: The learners demonstrate understanding of the basic needs of plants,
animals and humans.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learners should be able to list down activities which they can
perform at home, in school, or in their neighborhood to keep environment clean.
LEARNING COMPETENCY & CODE: Identify the basic needs of humans, plants and animals such as air,
food, water and shelter. (S3LT-lli-j-14)
I. Learning Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the learners must be able to:
1. Identify the basic needs of humans, such as foods, water etc.
2. Explain how living things depend on their environment to meet their
basic needs and express opinions or ways on how to conserve and
preserve their environment.

III. Learning Tasks


Pedagogical Approach:
Inquiry bases this pedagogical approach is problem-based. Students are presented with real
world problems and have the opportunity to solve them. They ask questions and research further
while learning concepts and materials that they may not even realize they are learning. Project
based learning fits in this category.

Engage:
The teacher will ask a question, and will show a flashcards contained the pictures of basic needs of
humans, and the students will use the white board to write their answers and they have to raise their
answers quickly.

Explore:
The students will watch a video clip on how the environment provide basic need of animals, human
and plants.

Explain:
1. The students must be able identify and describe the basic needs of humans , animals ,plants
2. Form the class into 2 groups and ask them to answer the flower organizer.

3. Ask them to write their final answers on a piece of paper and present it in front of the class.

4. Ask the learners to illustrate and describe each type of needs and the teacher will have a short
video to learners in order for them to understand how the basic needs important.

After that, the teacher will ask some students again with the following questions:
1. What are the basic needs of human beings?
2. What are the basic needs of human?
3. Do human, animals and plants have the same basic needs?
4. What are the basic needs of plants?
5. Do plants need food? Why?

Evaluate: The teacher will give a quiz of 1-5 items regarding the needs of humans, animals, plants
and they will answer it with multiple choices and they will have to answer it honestly.
