1. Executive Summary

During my internship, I gained practical knowledge on how the human resource division of
an organization operates and coordinates its activities to ensure smooth functioning of the
organization at all levels by ensuring right numbers of people are available at the right time to
do the right job.

Not only that I have also gained insight into the working culture of the organization and
observed how Spade EMS handles its employees with value and empowerment to ensure they
are motivated to give their best to the organization.

The report starts with a Problem statement of Job satisfaction at Spade, following which
objectives and scope of the study is also mentioned. The survey done on employees helped to
get the correct data of this report. All the Charts and data showed in this report is a part of
that survey. The project encompasses introduction to the topic, recruitment, selection,
training and development.

After that next is organization profile of Spade EMS giving its background, mission, vision,
its products and services, the methods applied and organogram of the organization.

Each chapter contains detailed discussion of the HR functions followed by Organization

Practice at Alliance Capital which basically conveys how things are done in the HR
Department.

Next is the recommendation on factors regarding Job satisfaction and Human Resource
Management of Spade EMS. Finally, there is the conclusion followed by references and
Bibliography.

2. Statement about the problem

The problem here was to know the Job satisfaction of employee working at Spade EMS.
Because it is important to retain your staff for the betterment of the company. It is equally
important to continuously check the morale of the employees and their work experience at the
company.
So, I got a chance to conduct a survey among the workers in the company and check wether
they are satisfied with the work culture of the company and their jobs or not. If not, then what
motivates them to work for the company. And what do they expect from the company to
boost up their morale.
So, if someone is getting what they want in their company, then it can increase their stay and
also increase their loyalty towards the company, because all the workers have a feel that their
company should treat them well and they don’t have any problem working there. It is also
important for the company to retain their employees, because the old employees can be the
real asset for the company because if someone leaves a company for Job satisfaction, it will
create a bad impact on others who are looking forward to work with the company in future.
Word of mouth is a devil which can decrease the rankings of the work place. And the other
reason is that if Old Employees leaves the company because of job satisfaction, the company
should have to conduct interviews to find suitable person for that position. Which can also
increase the hiring cost of the company, because even the company has to bear some
expenses to train, hire and welcome someone new in the team. And not to forget about the
productivity loss due to the employee who left the company.
It is also said that “Take Care of your employees, they will take care of your
customers/clients.” Which explains that if the employees of the company are treated well
then, they will also feel a sense of responsibility and connection towards the company and
they will try to push more for the betterment of the company. So, these are the reasons that
Job Satisfaction and work life balance are taken care of by the HR team in a company.
So, as I mentioned that Spade EMS is an event service provider, and in covid times, they
have also switched to provide other services. Mostly the employees were event coordinators,
so for them working in different domains was a little tough and during the pandemic when
the company was not earning much revenue, they didn’t fire someone. Which created a sense
of connection between the employees and the Company.

When the company switched its services, the employees were confused about continuing or
not and were supposed to face some Irregularity in their work life balance as they have new
things to do and it was stressful for them to do so but the proper and adequate training
provided helped them again to have a great work life balance and Job satisfaction.

10
3. Objectives

The objective of this study was to get feedback from the fulltime employees and
interns working with Spade EMS and also to know their status of Job satisfaction
while working with the company. I tried to study whether the employees are satisfied
working with us or not, I also worked on planning a better work culture at spade.

Although for this project the only target was to get responses from as many
employees as I can and hopefully, I get almost 51 responses.
Apart from that, my personal target was to complete this before the deadline.

So, the objectives were to understand the Behaviour and requirement of the
employees for achieving job satisfaction from Organizational Variables. And in those
organizational variables, I tried to segment it into some sections on which I can study.
Some of them were: -
 Payment & Growth Criteria- So, if someone is working with a company the
first thing that he/she wants is definitely the adequate amount of payment for
his work and also the opportunity to grow in personal manner. So, I tried to
learn that how many are looking for hike in salary and how many are in search
of personal growth in terms of designation as well as skills.
 Designation/Role Criteria- We know as the designation gets increased so does
the pressure and work load. And every domain and designation have very
much pressure on them because of some various reasons.
So, whether proper training is provided and whether the Team is cohesive and
friendly or not. If not, then what can be done to have a cohesive workplace.
 Consideration criteria- Everyone likes to get recognised and have a sense of
ownership and responsibility while working. So, according to me this is also
one of the greatest criteria to study whether employee is satisfied or not by the
amount of Consideration given to him.
 Management Criteria- The motive was to understand How the boss is
behaving with the employees.
 Target Criteria- This section is to understand whether the employees are
comfortable with the targets provided to them. If not, what changes do, they
want and why.
 Job Security- This criterion is to study whether the employees feel motivated
when their jobs are secured or not.

Apart from the organisational variables there is also some personal variable which can
affect the Job satisfaction for an individual. Some of them are like Age, gender,
Marriage status etc. So, these are few objectives to study in this report.

11
4. Scope of the study

The region of work is India, As, it is an India based start-up headquartered at Gurugram. All
the operations for HRM are done under this zone only. Although there is an International
Intern in web development team but that is an exception. So, majorly the scope of this study
is based on Employees working at Spade in India.
Scope is only of distributors of top and mediocre players of geyser, White goods brands in
market with high market share.

So, If I have to segment the Employees here for this study, I will segment them on the basis
of their positions, Salary/stipend, but majorly I will do it on the basis of their Work domain.
So, if their work lies under general management, IT, Creation or Event Management. But
overall, this study is done on everyone who has a connection to work with the Spade EMS.

The field/Area of the study was Digital because of the covid pandemic.

6.2Location-

The Spade EMS started as a student body as Spade LPU in the Ludhiana. But further it was
shifted to Gurugram and also it has been renamed as Spade Event Management Services.

Although the covid situations didn’t provided us the opportunity to work from office. So,
Spade has also shifted to Online mode. And they started providing other services to the new
start-ups. So, I got the opportunity to work Remotely.

6.3Daily Target

I was working in Human resources department, so I don’t have specified daily targets. But
yes, sometimes I do have a target to achieve like:
Get reach for the company on social media, or to contact student bodies & influencers for
promoting our company and pairing up with us.
Someday, I have to conduct Interviews for more than 100 candidates and someday I have to
just do the screening, or reaching out to the placement cells of the colleges.
These all tasks have different targets on demand basis, so the Daily target was not fixed this
way.
But, the most important target I have to do here is to collect Reports of all Interns of Business
Development and maintaining their database.

22
7 Description of Work

7.1 Method I applied

The method I applied to do all these tasks were always practical and primary, because
When I got chance to get reports on Employee Job satisfaction at Spade, I tried to
search for the most generic and common problems that all the employees working
here are facing.

I personally talked to the employees and get their feedback with the help of a google
form, and collected their responses to study about the problem they are facing and the
motivation they get while working here.

For conducting the Interviews, I assisted and observed my Team leader while he was
taking the Interviews. I saw the way he asked the questions and the next time when I
got the opportunity to assist him, and got the chance to ask few questions, I
implemented the things that I had observed while taking the Interviews.

For other tasks, like contacting T&P Cells of colleges or to get influencers for the
company. I tried to search it through social media and contacted them for pairing up
with Spade EMS.

I also tried secondary sources for collecting data and information like google and
LinkedIn. But majorly it was primary.

7.2What I did to achieve daily targets.

I tried to prepare a to-do list and write all my task in the start of the day. Which
helped me to not forget something important. I also tried to make a habit of
checking that to-do list on regular basis and I used to tick those tasks which I have
already completed. It also helped me to perform my tasks before the deadline and
keep a track of whatever I did in a particular day.

Whenever I get a task to get partners for the company, I tried to look for them
using my connections and screen them which helped me to get the best for the
company.

For the Interviews, I tried to prepare a day before the interviews, I prepare
everything about Spade EMS, so that if an applicant asks something, I can answer
them.

23
I also tried to work more than the office hours to complete the tasks that have been
assigned to me, but I can say that mostly I have been loyal to my work and tried to
do it with my whole potential, and I think this is the most important point that
helped me to reach my target on daily basis.

7.3Strategies Adopted.

The strategies I applied to do my internship and this report was simple.

I tried to ask my mentor for all the doubt that I faced, and also, I tried to finalize
my project details. Before starting, I tried to lay down a foundation of the topic
and collected basic Knowledge about the same.
I defined the scope of the study and objective of the study and develop a basic
plan and small goals.

As the time was low, So I tried to do the data collection first because it will take
time and while that period, I tried to do other sections of the report like Collecting
details of the company and Job Description.
I created a rough plan and tried to follow it and also followed my to-do for
achieving this.

I have also planned to evaluate my project before submission. Because I don’t

want to have any mistake in it and reviewing it will decrease the chance of having
a mistake.
I also tried to plan sections on the basis of time duration which help me to set an
objective for the day and helps me to reach this milestone.

24
8 Methodology Applied (How did you do it?)

The sequences to perform my project was not so complicated. I tried to keep it simple and
used different methods.

8.1 Methods

a. Qualitative Analysis:
I talked directly to the employees and know their experience while working with
Spade EMS. Although, it will be difficult and hard to manage if I would have taken
the direct feedback from every single employee.
But I got feedback from this way also and I have also tried to apply that information
in this report.

b. Online Survey:
As it was a Work from home internship, so I didn’t get the opportunity to directly
communicate with my colleagues but I tried to reach some of them through Calls and
message but to get the overall data of Job satisfaction at spade, I did an online survey
to collect the feedback from all the employees who are working with the company.

As, Spade EMS is a start-up, it only has 50-100 employees. Where I got the sample of
50+ responses.

8.2 Overview of Data collected and used.

The study will be both a mixture of quantitative along with qualitative part. A basic
overview of the data collected and used to make this report are described below-

1. Data Type:
This report will be based both on Primary and Secondary data-

a. Primary Data:
The survey instrument or the survey questionnaire contained a total of 15
questions that encompassed the objective of the research. Different
Employees of different domains and positions are the population of the
study.
The survey has been done on 51 people consist of Full time and part time
employees (along with the founders). With the help of official WhatsApp
group, email and my personal network it was easy for me to collect the
survey responses within few days which was only possible because of the
online questionnaire form. Responses from 51 samples were collected
through the survey.

25
b. Secondary Data:
The secondary data sources are:
i. Google and Wikipedia
ii. Spade EMS official website.
iii. And few HR specific blog pages.

2. Data Source:

a. Primary Source:
Primary data on Employee Job Satisfaction is collected from surveying of
target group and personal observation.

b. Secondary Source:
Like primary source, secondary source is also major stream of information
for the report. List of the secondary source is-
i. Internet
ii. Social Network Sites
iii. Text books
iv. Several other reports
v. And other sources.

9. Recommendations and Conclusions

9.1 Conclusion.

Working in a profit making and awarded as top 75 start up like Spade EMS was one of my
dreams.
I am so happy that, I could complete the first phase of my corporate life working in such an
Event management agency. For a young blood like me working with the creative minds and
professionals definitely was a great experience for me.
Although it was remote internship with unknown people and people there were great and very
cooperative. We used to have fun, work lately with high encouragement because we felt like,
we are working not only for the company but also for the nation and its people because the
founders used to motivate us about the same.
Every communication there counts. 360-degree communication is done by Spade EMS,
though 2 months attachments is not enough for a person to learn all those, but the
relationships made there are a lifetime asset who are still with me helping learn so many
things. It was a great journey working with so many local and international brands which
concludes that, it has been a great learning opportunity for me.
This has been a great learning experience for my career.

The project in this report is done based on the Employee Job satisfaction. The objective of
this report is to find what motivates Employees to work with the company and what problems
do they face while working in a corporate. It was totally to learn the organization behaviour
of the staffs and to find a solution for the company about what should be done to motivate
and attract employees towards the company. And which will also help to less Alteration rate.
So, this report was made after doing survey and researching about the same.
Again, this report is done with a lot of limitations and obstacles. Thanks to so many people
who helped me doing this report.

27
9.2 Recommendation.

 The organization should practice proper Spade EMS guideline. The purpose of Human
Resource Management is to improve the productive contribution of people.

 To get effective and efficient productivity and results, the organization should arrange
proper training and development programs.

 The entire HR department should be well informed regarding the employment personal
and have a report about all the employees working there.

 The major work should be Domain related, although some extra work from other domain
is ok. But not on regular basis.

 The organization should provide direct stipend direct to its staffs and Interns.

 The company should have job evaluated salary structure, which is most competitive than
other organizations.

 To evaluate employee’s performance; the management should follow promotion policy

properly.

 In order to get competitive advantage and to deliver quality service, top management
should try to modify the services.

 Periodical performance appraisal and giving recognition and rewards to the qualified
employees to keep motivating them, although they are doing it pretty well but it can be
improved.

 Proper training needed for ensuring performance of the employees.

 Spade EMS Management should hire specialist for each individual sector and
departments. Currently they have more projects than the leaders, so there is so much of
pressure on a single staff.

 The management should create employee database and continuously informing the team
about the available facilities or opportunities which will work to achieve twin goal at a

9.3 Limitations/Problems faced

 While it was a remote internship, the biggest problem faced during my tenure was
proper communication with the team. Although we used to have at-least one daily
meeting but sometimes the doubt remains and then I face some issues to contact
seniors as they used to be busy in any other tasks, and which results in delay of that
task.

 I was handling Business development team and was the HR leader of that particular
domain. Which means that the Interns of the domain has to report me on daily basis
and I was the face of HR for them. My team was really great and used to do their
tasks on regular basis and also used to submit their daily report by the end of the day,
but there were some Interns who don’t reply even after tagging them in the group and
also don’t send their daily report on regular basis. Which was a limitation for me, as I
was maintaining their database and I also have to report to somebody about that. But
the initiative, I took to overcome this problem was to issue a Warning letter on the
name of that Intern, and from next day she used to submit her report on daily basis.

 I also faced a problem when Interns from my domain didn’t show up for the day
without informing.

 While doing this project and collecting data, the biggest problem faced was that, it is
really hard to collect correct data and information from employees, because they
might not feel comfortable while sharing the information and hence fills false feeling.

 To collect the whole data and perform this report, it needs time to do so. So, for me
Time constraint was definitely a limitation.

 Due to confidentiality purpose of the company and the threat to express the
employees feeling, it was not possible to collect more information.

 Most of the Employees didn’t filled the form even after reminding them regularly. So,
getting a response from your senior was difficult but most of them were really nice
and filled it when I shared it with them.
