Unit – V. SINGLE PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR
Q.5 Explain capacitor start induction run type single phase induction motor and
state its applications.
Examples:
1 The span of a transmission line is 200m and the maximum tensile strength of the conductor material is 4000kg
and the weight of the conductor is 2 kg/m. Calculate sag assuming the factor of safety of 2.
2 The weight of the conductor in a transmission line is 1.2kg/m and the span is 200m The maximum tensile strength
of the conductor is 8000kg. Calculate the assuming the factor of safety of 4.
3 String of three insulators the mutual capacitance is 9 times the shunt capacitance line voltage is 33 kv. Find the
voltage across each unit.
4 A three phase over head line os supported by three suspension insulator discs. The potential across the first and the
middle units are 10 and 12 Kv Respectively.

3 A 120 km long three phase transmission line delivers power of 10 MW at the receiving end at a power factor of 0.8
lagging at 66KV . The line parameters are as follows:

8 The resistance per phase of a three phase transmission line is 12Ω and the inductance is 0.15mH. The capacitance
between the line and neutral is 1.2microfarads . at the receiving end power of 30MW is supplied at 120kv,50Hz.
