only native americans but their peers as well.

Overview: Activities / Lessons
One pager research project
on the environment and
culture of one native
american tribe.
A table group reading comprehension lesson using
the questioning strategy. The text, The People Shall
Continue, will illustrate colonization from the
perspective of the nartive americans. Afterwards, a
discussion on the importance of multiple
perspectives.
Community Circle to close the unit. Students will
discuss what they have learned about their own
culture and the culture of others (including their
tribes’). Additionally, they will discuss the
importance of understanding the culture of
others and how having respect for others can go
a long way in the future.

Critical Thinking LP: Cultural Presentation & Gallery Walk

Students will be creating a 3-5 Google Slides presentation on foods and meal practices from
both their own culture and the culture of the native american tribe from their one pager
assignment. The slides will include photos and some writing about the topic. Once completed,
the students will do a classroom gallery walk of their peers presentations. At the end, in their
table groups, they will have a discussion about what similarities and differences they noticed
between their peers and their own cultures.
