Introduction
The new edition of this Workbook is for students who are taking the International
General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in English as a Second
Language (E2L) examination, and it has been written to supplement the new
edition of the Coursebook.
It is assumed that most of you who use this book will be studying English in
order to improve your educational or employment prospects, and it, therefore,
includes a broad range of topics and themes relevant to this goal. You will find
passages and activities based on a wide variety of stimulating cross-curriculum
topics and about people from all over the world, which I hope you will enjoy
reading and discussing.
This Workbook follows the same procedure as the Coursebook, with each
themed unit focusing on a specific aspect of the IGCSE E2L examination.
Furthermore, the Workbook units reinforce areas of language, as well as
providing more opportunities for you to research and complete projects.
In addition, each unit offers practice in writing skills.
