B. Abstract
• Highly condensed version of the complete paper
• Commonly 250 words
C. Introduction
• Provide context and rationale
• Why is this study needed?
• What is the problem being addressed?
• What is known already?
• What knowledge gaps exist?
• How will this contribute?
• Include statement of purpose
• Usually at end of section
• Hypothesis, if appropriate
Reminder:
• construct as an inverted pyramid
• move from broad statement to rationale for the study: why this study
• catchy opening sentence
• keep it short
• choose review literature
• justify your study

• Study design
• Subject/Participant Selection
• Technical Information
• Statistical/Analytic methods

E. Results
• Subjects/ Participants
• Description of sample
• Summarize findings
• Tables and figures plus the complement text
• Only describe findings that are statistically significant

F. Discussion
• Brief summary of results
• Interpret major finding and supporting findings
• Significance
• What new knowledge is contributed?
• compare with what has done before
• Limitations
• Implications for policy, practice & future research
• Typically should move from specific to general (opposite of introduction)

G. Conclusion and Recommendation


• Sense of completion and closure
• Should leave a lasting impression
• Policy recommendation
• Suggestions for further research

H. Acknowledgment
• Thank people who contributed to the research but whose contributions don’t qualify them for
authorship
• Obtain permission before listing people
• Mention sources of financial support
