A. Read the Article: COVID-19 Vaccine

B. For this activity, you will work together as a group of approximately 10 students to create a
written output regarding the COVID- 19 Vaccine, consisting of at least 450 words. This
assignment will require some additional outside research to complete and coordination your
efforts as a group. At a minimum, you must address the following questions:

1. Tell what the article is about.

 In this undeniable era, our friends and loved ones pass away unexpectedly. Health
professionals and front-line responders are putting their lives to stop the
pandemic. At the very least, we should be aware that the health-care sectors are
working tirelessly to control and terminate this pandemic. Upon reading, the
article claims that vaccines will not aid in the abolition of the pandemic. Rather, it
is the general public's desire to follow safe measures in order to reduce the virus’
danger, as well as our readiness to be vaccinated. Indeed, solidarity and other's
effort to do their part as citizens will undoubtedly aid in the end of the pandemic.
It is estimated to have millions of deaths and cases of covid-19 across the
globe, and there have been restrictions placed on people, with social and
economic consequences. Vaccination then, is that one sure answer to put this
pandemic to an end. Vaccination is a simple, safe, and effective way of protecting

you against harmful diseases before you come into contact with them. It uses your
body’s natural defences to build resistance to specific infections and makes your
immune system stronger. Getting vaccinated may also protect the people around
you, those who are comorbid in particular.

2. Explain the main idea of this article by retelling it in your own words.

 Vaccination helps in the reduction of pathogen and virus transmission; hence herd
immunity is strongly recommended. Although vaccines are being thoroughly
researched and are being deemed safe and effective, vaccines alone isn’t the only
solution, but the act of vaccination. Despite being vaccinated, people must still
follow the protocols such as wearing face masks, regularly washing of hands, and
social distancing. It incorporates the fact that being vaccinated doesn't imply that
we can disregard safety protocols and endanger ourselves and others. Researchers
are working on solutions to end this pandemic, and now is the time for us to do
our part.

3. How will you use the information that you obtained from this article? Relate it with
fundamentals of pharmacology concept.

 COVID-19 vaccines are effective at protecting you from COVID-19, especially

severe illness and death. COVID-19 vaccines reduce and hamper the risk and rate
of people spreading the virus that causes COVID-19. Every detail in this article
can help raise one’s awareness about the importance of vaccination in our time of
pandemic. They are especially eye opening and along the way, we learn how
efficient and how imperative COVID-19 vaccines are for the protection of the
people. Vaccinating not only protects you, but also protects the people around
you, the community, and those who are especially vulnerable such as children and
the elderly.

4. Explain what part of the article was the most interesting to read and why?

 It is discussed on the third paragraph that “being vaccinated does not mean that
we can throw caution to the wind and put ourselves and others at risk”. Mostly
think that when they get vaccinated, they can disregard the things that we needed
against this virus. We cannot afford to be complacent, the primary goal is to
minimize the number of hospitalizations and fatalities, but it is also critical to
reduce the number of transmissions, which leads to the emergence of more
varieties. We should educate everyone that when we are vaccinated, vaccines can
only help to lessen the severity of infection and thereby avoid hospitalization. It
does not, however, guarantee that one will not become infected.
