VACCINATIONS

LEAD
Covid 19 changed everything . We need to
wear mask, physically distance ourselves
and disinfect always for prevention.
However these are not enough to fight the
deadly virus. Research shows that vaccines
is the best shield against all type of virus.

CONCLUSIONS
If we want vaccine to work, lets cooperate,
lets share our good experience after getting
Vaccinated. Working together can make
vaccination work and we can have healthier
children and better future for them.
ALZHEIMER’S
LEAD
Have you experienced going around the
house finding your house key only to find
out that you are holding it in your hands?
How about losing that key for the rest of
your life? alzheimer’s disesse hide that key
for some people.

CONCLUSIONS
ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE do not have yet
concrete treatment but we can do now is to
understand the people suffering from it. It is
not a matter of insanity but a matter of
awareness. Let us extend a helping hand to
those who cannot find their keys.
MENTAL HEALTH
LEAD
When it is okay to be okay?
In the age of social Media where it is so easy
to write “Iam Okay” we have tendency to
neglect our emotions, feelings, and
situations. As we turn off our gadgets, that is
where darkness consumes us. Jut as
important as physical, mental health
matters...
CONCLUSIONS
It is Okay to be Okay if you feel restless,
tired anxious. It is ok to take a pause,
breathe and prioritize yiurself first. But,
remember that you are not helpless. Talk to
your family. Call a friend. Consult an expert.
It is okay not to be okay, but dont let
yourself stucked in the darkness.
PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE;
LETS GET VACCINATED!
Vaccination is a simple, safe, and effective way of
protecting you against harmful diseases, before
you come into contact with them. It uses your
body’s natural defenses to build resistance to
specific infections and makes your immune system
stronger. However, because vaccines contain only
illed or weakened forms of germs like viruses or
bacteria, they do not cause the disease or put you
at risk of its complications, this is according to an
article entitled ___________________ published
on who.com. According to Department of Health
(DOH) Undersecretary Dr. Myrna C. Cabotaje
the diseases that prevented by the vaccination are
as follows: Measles, Rubella, Tetanus, and Polio.
The diseases that can be prevented by
immunizations are the Severe TB’S such as TB
Meningitis, Pneumonia, Hepatitis B, and
Diphtheria. Vaccines and Immunizations helps us
with the two different types of Mechanisms which
is; the Live Attenuated and the Toxoid Vaccine.
The BCG (Baccile Calmete-Guerin) and Hepatitis
Vaccine help child’s immune system fight the
germs that causes Tubercolosis and Hepatitis B.
Based on Presidential Degree No. 996, compulsary
basic immunization must be provided for infants
and children below eight years old. After 6 weeks,
the child must get a Pentavalent vaccine against
diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio and
pneumonia. And after 9 months, a child must get
its first dose for measles, and must go back again
at 12-14 months for the second dose. Dr. Cabotaje
also mentioned, “All the vaccines that we mention
are safe, they were used all over the world and for
the longest time. All of the vaccines that we are
using are pre-qualified before we buy it. We have
process which is were ensuring the vaccines are
meet the standard that has been approved by the
Worlds Health Organizations (WHO)”. There are
also a side effects when your going to get
vaccinated such as; Soreness, and a little Fever
but if the child experienced high fever, loose vowel
movement (LBM), and vomiting they need to go
back at the health center. In the last week of
April, Department of Health (DOH) celebrates the
“World Immunization’ week, with their program
entitled PROTECTED TOGETHER
#vaccineswork. If we want vaccine to work, we
should cooperate, say our good experience after
getting vaccinated and we should also protect the
children from diseases. Dr. Cabotaje once said
that working together can make vaccination work
and can have healthier children and better future
for them”.

ORAL NASAL VACCINE: NEW

PROTECTION AGAINST COVID 19
WHO looking forward to oral, nasal COVID-19
vaccines.which are safe and easy to administer
and convenient for all ages. They have been
successfully developed to protect from many
infectious diseases acquired through oral
transmission. While Nasal Vaccine is a vaccine
administered to a person via the nose and does not
require a needle. This article was based on
wikipedia and gut microbes volume 4 –issue 3.
The World Health Organization’s (WHO) chief
scientists said Tuesday she was looking forward to
the “second generation” of COVID-19 vaccines,
including; nasal sprays and oral versions
according to GENEVA from abscbn.com. Soumya
Swaminathan an Indian pediatrician and clinical
scientist said such a vaccines could have
advantages over the current crop as they would be
easier to deliver than injections and could even be
self-administered. Swaminathan also said there
were 129 different candidate vaccines that have
got as far clinical trials – being tested on humans
while a further 194 are not yet that advanced in
their development and are still being worked on in
laboratories. “This covers the entire range of
technologies,” she told a live interaction on World
Health Organization’s (WHO) social media
channels. “They’re still in development. I’m sure
some of them will prove to be very safe and
efficacious and others may not. Ultimately we’ll
be able to choose the ones that are most
appropriate, if not for COVID, we’re going to use
these platforms for other infections in the future.”
Swaminathan explained the advantages of a
vaccine being sprayed into the nose, as happens in
some countries with influenza vaccines. “If there’s
a local immune response then it will take care of
the virus before it even goes and establishes itself
in lungs and starts causing a problem” she said.
The World HealtH Organizations (WHO) has
only given emergency use authorisation to 7
COVID-19 vaccines such as; Moderna,
AstaZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Sinopharm,
Sinovac and lat week Bharat Biotech. “None of
the vaccines are 100%. Nobody has ever claimed
that the vaccines are going to be 100% protective.
But 90% is a wonderful amount of protection to
have, copared to zero,” Swaminathan said. “Till
now, with the vaccines that we have approved,
there has not beeen any signal which has been so
worrying that we need to re-think this vaccine”.
More than 7.25 billion vaccine does have been
administered around the world, according to an
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) count.
MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS
Mental Health is “a state of well-being in which
the individual realizes his or her own abiities, can
cope with the normal stresses of life, can work
productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a
contribution to his or her community”, this is
according to World Health’s Organization
(WHO). We can define Mental Health as a thing
that affects how we think, feel, and act. And it also
helps determine how we handle stress, relate to
others, and make healthy choices. Children are
unable to fully grasp the concept on their mental
health and well-being but, the pandemic has taken
away aspects of their life just like any other
member of the community. Although, there are
many factors to address children are particularly
vulnerable due to their limited understanding of
the current pandemic. Because of this, many of
them are also unable to physically and mentally
escape the harms of the situation as they have
little to not coping strategies and it is hard for
them to communicate their feelings easily unlike
adults. Even their understanding is minimal,
children can pick up on unverified information
through social media or word of mouth as adults
comunicate which can aggravate mental distress
and feelings of uncertainty as misinterpretation is
bound to happen. Children are also in a
continuous and critical period of development as
they require special care in order to preserve and
promote their mental health which has been
primarily affected by a drastic change in routine.
The suppression of all class activities and learning
as well as a shift to an online schooling has led to
the creation of an isolated learning environment.
A nationwide study in Canada conducted by the
international journal of behavioral nutrition and
physical activity found that children and youth
were actually less active played outside less where
more sedentary engaged in more recreational
screen time and slept more in comparison to
before the COVID-19 restrictions. Children with
autism or a neurocognitive disabilities are more
likely to show problematic behaviours such as;
Irritability, Aggression, and Social withdrawal.
Research shows that fear can be contagious as
children are sensitive to the emotional state of the
adults that surround them, to make matters worse
parents are also unable to alleviate the stress
through familiar mechanisms that were
established prior to the pandemic such as visiting
family and friends or going on excursions such as
watching movies or dining out. Additionally
during the pandemic many children do not have
enough physical activity so it is recommended to
mix physical activities with video games, there are
active video games that kids can use which can be
very helpful while the outdoor movements are
restricted, Dr. Kristopher Alexander a professor
of video games at Ryerson University in Toronto
said “Video games can be a positive activity
during this time of self-distancing if we can take
the time to discover the types of games that are
the best for you”. So now, what can you do to help
your child during this pandemic ensure their
mental health is being addresed? First, comfort
them, try to empower your child to overcome
their negative thoughts by saying things like; you
are stronger than you feel also be sure to validate
your child’s concern by saying things like its okay
to be upset. Secondly, ask questions to your child
an opportunity to open up, some questions you
can ask your child include; what question do you
have? Or how are you feeling or what are your
friends saying about this and lastly what fun
things can you do today? Thirdly, have relaxing
activities that you and your child enjoy to help
them feel more secure and connected, this can be
done by listening to a mindfulness or relaxation
activity together, practicing positive self-talk r
engaging in an enjoyable physical activity. Lastly,
a great thing to do is to enjoy things that children
like to do, try to talk about things that are
important to your child such as; sports or dancing
or art, some great activities are as follows;
reading books, watching movies, playing board
games, working on puzzles or even helping your
child with their homework. Using these advises
can help you have a personalized system for your
child to make their routines a little less difficult
and ensures healthy state of mind which really
matters during this pandemic.
