By: Nur Qistina Aisyah Binti Mohd Nazaro

General purpose: To make the public aware of the importance of vaccines

Spesific purpose: To make the community, especially parents, aware of the

importance of childhood vaccinations to their children's health as well as to

to ensure good immunization of children in order to fight dangerous diseases
and viruses
I. INTRODUCTION

A. Attention Grabber: (Statement to wake the audience up/

make sure they are listening!)

 Start the speech with proverbial statement “Prevention is better than

cure”
 Make a question about the proverb. ( and gives definition)
 Introduce yourself ( before continue your speech)
 Greet the audience. (Assalamualaikum wbt and a very good afternoon to
Sir Firdaus and all my lovely friends. It is an honor for me to speak in our
learning session today. Thank you again, everyone, for having me.)
 Insert some jokes ( so that audience will not get bored)
B. Thesis: (Tell listeners what action you want them to take—
OR—how you want them to think.)

 Explain what topic are you going to present

 Explain whether it is a debatable topic/ controversial topic so that the
audience will concern.
 Explain about the definition of vaccinations

“Vaccination is the administration of a vaccine to help the immune system

establish disease defence. Vaccines include microorganisms or viruses that are
damaged, live or destroyed, or proteins or toxins from the body. They help to
avoid infectious disease by stimulating the body's adaptive immunity”

 Explain types of vaccines that are famous .

 Live-attenuated vaccines

1. Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR combined vaccine)

2. Rotavirus
3. Smallpox
4. Chickenpox
5. Yellow fever

 Inactivated vaccines
1. Hepatitis A
2. Flu (shot only)
3. Polio (shot only)
4. Rabies

 Subunit, recombinant, polysaccharide, and conjugate vaccines

1. Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b) disease

2. Hepatitis B
3. HPV (Human papillomavirus)

 Persuade the listener and audience that vaccine I must from childhood
 The importance of vaccines
1. Vaccines are essential for protecting children against infectious
diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella and whooping cough.

II. BODY

A. Reason 1: (Tell one reason why listeners should act or think the
way your thesis suggests.)

i. Example 1—
 When children are vaccinated, their immune systems
develop infection-fighting antibodies to protect them from
contracting the targeted disease if they are exposed to it later
in life.

i. Example 2—

 To abolished anti-vaccine thinking

ii. Example 3—

 so that infants and children can grow up without the

disruption of disease that should be preventable through
vaccination

TRANSITION SENTENCE: (Smoothly connect Reason 1 with

Reason 2)

B. Reason 2: (Give listeners a second reason why they should act

or think as you want them to.)

i. Example 1—

 The full range of prescribed childhood vaccines, mostly

completed for most children up to 6 years of age, not only
protects the vaccinated child but also contributes to a
broader protective umbrella known as "herd immunity." By
doing so, it helps prevent the spread of disease to those who
cannot be vaccinated, including those who are too young to
be vaccinated, and those with impaired immune status.

ii. Example 2—

 Taking the vaccine can have serious side effects that can
lead to death. The fact is that the side effects of
immunization are often mild and harmless compared to the
effects of the disease itself.

 Vaccines contain harmful substances. Vaccines do not

contain substances that can damage the human body but
instead contain active substances called antigens. These
antigens are either in the form of live viruses, viruses that
have been killed, virus proteins that have been purified,
bacterial toxins that have been weakened or part of the
bacterial structure.

iii. Example 3—

 To avoid the risk of diseases such as haemophilus

Influenza Type B (Hib) that causes meningitis and
pneumonia, hepatitis B that attacks the liver, human
papillomavirus (HPV) that causes cervical cancer and
sexually transmitted diseases, measles causes blindness
and encephalitis, meningitis A which is an infection in
brain, mumps, pneumococcal, polio, rotavirus that causes
diarrhea, rubella and so on

2. SUGGESTIONS AND SOLUTIONS

 to make the community more aware of the importance of

vaccines
 making more vaccine awareness campaigns among the
community especially parents
 enforce laws on mandatory of the vaccine

SIGNAL THE WRAP UP! (Move smoothly from Reason 2 to the

conclusion of your speech.

III. CONCLUSION
A. Summary: (Briefly remind listeners why they should agree
with your position.)

 Children are a gift from God that needs to be taken care of as best as
possible by parents
 Therefore, vaccines should be mandatory in order to ensure public health

B. Memorable Ending/Audience Challenge: (End with a

powerful closing thought or recommended course of action.)

 invite listeners to equally curb shallow thoughts about vaccines

 our thinking should be equally advanced in line with today's increasingly
advanced and modern world

C. Thank Audience for Listening!
