VARIABLE AIR VOLUME CONTROL WITH AIR VALVE

The control system is designed to work with variable air volume extraction. The maximum and
minimum flow rate depends on the technical features of the extraction system installed. The
system keeps the air velocity constant on the open front area, even with different positions of
the fume hood sash. The flow rate is electronically controlled by an air valve with a modulating
system suitable to adjust the air extraction in the ducting. The control system for variable air
volume with air valve includes the following parts: Display control panel type 514, PCB
motherboard type 554 and Air velocity probe type 406.

MAIN FEATURES
 Control system for variable air volume extraction and constant face velocity
 3-digit visual display with face velocity value (accuracy 0.00 m/s)
 Audible and visible alarm for insufficient air flow
 Optional alarm device for excessive sash opening
 Optional device for motorized sash
 Optional contact interface (NC or NO) to check when extraction system is working

OPERATING FUNCTIONS
In the following list are described the features of the air control panel.
The 3-digit visual display shows air velocity on front open area, with accuracy up to 0.00 m/s.

value. The maximum flow rate depends on the
extraction system installed.
MENU Set face velocity for AUTOMATIC operational Green led: control ON
mode. Adjust the value with ‘+’ and ‘-’ keys. Led off: control OFF
Confirm the value with ‘MENU’ key.
Default value: 0.5 m/s. Range: 0.3-1.5 m/s.
AUTO-MAN AUTOMATIC or MANUAL operational mode. Green led for AUTO: control ON
With AUTO mode, the system keeps the air Green led for MAN: control ON
velocity constant on the open front area, even
with different positions of the fume hood sash.
The default value of face velocity is 0.5 m/s.
With MAN mode, the end user sets the air
velocity. The air control works with constant air
volume (CAV) extraction.
The default value is 0%. Use ‘+’ and ‘-’ keys to
adjust the air velocity.

ALARMS FEATURES
When frontal air velocity is insufficient for at least 30 seconds the audible alarm is activated
and the related led turns red. The alarm default value is 0,20 m/s.
To chanhe the value, please check “Operational Parameters Setting”.
AVAILABLE AS OPTIONAL ACCESSORY
In case of excessive sash opening (over the operational heigth – 500mm) the audible alarm
is activated and the related led turns red.

AIR VALVE ADJUSTING AIR EXTRACTION IN DUCTING

The air valve is used to adjust mechanically the volume of air suction in the
ducting. The device is suitable for a fume hood working with a variable air
volume (VAV) system, in order to keep the air velocity constant on the open
front area, even with different positions of the fume hood sash.

The air valve is manufactured from chemical resistant rigid PVC. Connections
are female socket one end and male spigot the other end.
