Abstract

This paper is about the painting The Beginning of a Perfect Day, and my ideas and

feelings about it. I choose this painting because it represents a place that I would love to visit or

even live in one day; deep in the woods surrounded by mountains far away from people and the

distractions of daily life. It represents what beautiful creations God has placed upon the earth,

and Thomas Kinkade was gifted with the ability to create his own work of art in describing The

Beginning of a Perfect Day. This painting from Kinkade really resonates with me because I am

the kind of person that would much rather be outdoors instead of stuck inside, and when I came

across this picture all of the elements and small details really jumped out at me. This is more than

a painting to me, it is a representation of the beauty of nature. It makes me feel as if I am actually

Sight of Nature in the Morning

Thomas Kinkade’s paintings have always drawn my attention. This particular painting

really describes what nature is about and the creations of God. There is so much detail in this

painting with the mountains in the background covered in snow, and the fog lifting as the sun

comes over the horizon. The little creek leads to the big lake where the boat sits on the bank so I

can reach new areas on the water. The camp fire is smoldering from the night before and I can

almost smell the smoke drifting up from the coals. My favorite subject in this painting is the log

cabin that looks like it was built by hand. It gives a very cozy and rustic look, with the windows

lit up from a warm fire inside. Then there are the horses grazing outside that can be used to

explore the land around.

It is my dream to live somewhere like this one day. I am a person that loves the outdoors

and I love to camp. Me and my husband go camping in tents very often, and we usually take our

kayaks. There would be so much to explore in a place like this with a boat and so much beautiful

scenery that surrounds the water. This picture is so relaxing and the scenery is so breathtaking

that it makes you forget about everything going on in life, even if it’s just for just a short time.

Thomas Kinkade describes this painting with “When a morning dawns so bright, so clear, so

bursting with beauty that you can't help but pause to celebrate God's wondrous creation—that is
