Exodus: World and Worldview of Ancient Societies and Societies Today

In the Exodus and 10,000 BC slavery was very rampant, raiders kidnapped other people
from distant lands and forced them to work every day under the scorching sun with barely
enough food and water. Slaves who stopped working for even a second were beaten, and some
were sacrificed believing Numerous slaves died making their kidnapper’s buildings. Although
slavery today is illegal there are still some people out there like our construction workers and
farmers here in the Philippines who are paid below the minimum wage, as a result have barely
enough to provide for their families. Construction was not an easy thing to do back then
however, still they produced many structures which even modern man could not build. The only
thing available to ancient man was a horse or some sort of animal as shown in 10,000 BC which
was used for the carrying of different materials. The ability to move and lift was seriously
limited. Today a single excavator can do work equivalent of a thousand men in ancient times.
Corruption is very ancient and is one of the characteristics of the human nature. In 10,000
BC corruption was shown when an official bribed the officer in charge of the slaves to release
one and own it for himself. In the Philippines, officials buy people’s votes and even threaten
those who oppose them. These people were given the responsibility to lead our country and yet
they betray all of us by stealing from our country’s funds for their own personal gain, knowing
that there are millions of Filipinos out there who are suffering.
Oppression is still present even in our modern-day society. The most common oppression
we see today are race and religion. It started with our ancestors and has unfortunately continued
on into today’s society. We tend to group all people in the same race in the same social category.
When are we going to learn that the color of our skin does not make one or the other better? Why
do we all have to believe in the same God? Can’t all of us just respect and love each other?
We’re achieving nothing by oppressing different religions or races. We were all created equal, so
when will we learn? Oppression achieves nothing besides creating hatred.
