Instructions for Installing the PayJoy App (Partner version)

These are instructions for a PayJoy partner’s employees to install the PayJoy app, whether as they’re
making a sale to a customer or for testing purposes.

1) Turn on the phone. Connect the phone to Wi-Fi or cellular data.

2) Download PayJoy. To do this, open the phone's web browser and type www.payjoy.com/app in the
address bar. The phone will automatically begin to download the best version of PayJoy for the specific
model of phone being used.

(If you are prompted for permission to download the file, tap “Download.”)

3) Open the downloaded PayJoy installer. Once the download completes, swipe down from the top of the
phone's screen and tap on the file "PayJoy.apk."

Note: If you see an "Open With" message, tap "Android Package Installer.”
4) Allow the installation. A popup will appear, stating that the installation is blocked. Tap "Settings." Turn
on Unknown Sources, then tap “OK.”

5) Tap “Install” to complete the installation. Finally, tap “Open.”

6) Activate PayJoy. The below screen will appear. Tap “Activate,” then tap on the link to open the
Settings app. Deactivate “Android Device Manager” and any other apps in this list, then return to the
PayJoy app.

7) At this point, the Device Tag is shown in the app. Keep this screen open on your phone.

8) On another desktop or mobile phone, log into Lock API Dashboard
(https://www.payjoy.com/dashboard/#/). From the Dashboard main menu, click on “Manage Your
Devices.”

Note for developers: You can execute steps 8-9 to activate a phone via the Lock API endpoints instead
of using your PayJoy Dashboard. Dashboard requires zero code but can only activate devices one at a
time.

9) In “Manage Your Devices,” click on the “Activate a Device” tab. Enter your Device Tag and set an
expiration date in the future using the UNIX timestamp (to convert your time to UNIX, you can use
https://www.epochconverter.com/.) When a phone reaches its’ specified expiration time, the lock will
activate. The phone will remain locked until the expiration time is extended.
10) Going back to your phone that you just activated, you’ll see that the phone state doesn’t change
immediately. You must accept Samsung’s ELM terms (this only shows up for Samsung phones).

11) Wait for the phone to connect with PayJoy.

12) You’ll then see this next screen, which now displays the PayJoy app with an active loan.

13) Confirm the information via two methods:

1) Through PayJoy Dashboard (https://www.payjoy.com/dashboard/#/), on main menu, click on the
“Manage Your Devices”, then click on “View Device Information” tab
or
2) Use the PayJoy Lock API /Device endpoint as a developer
(https://www.payjoy.com/apidocs/lock-api-endpoints.html#get-device)
